Wondering how many of our members can drive a stick shift. (i.e. manual transmission)?

Learned driving on a manual Golf IV! A Jaguar XJ8 was the only automatic, I've driven yet…all other cars I've driven had manual transmissions…

edit: Forget about the DSG Skoda Superb TDI - automatic was so bad that I delete it out of my memory… ;)

Hell yeah! I ain't guy or a chick... or a guy with big bank balance or an oldie to hire a chauffeur! :D

Both my cars are manual, and I have never driven an automatic car! Automatic 'boxes just don't make sense :D

I drive a Mercedes in the US, what is this manual transmission thingy you talk about?:t-crazy2:

Every once in a blue moon I drive a few miles in manual car, but we don't own a manual car anymore so that is less and less now.

I drive a Honda Accord standard and very fun. Nothing does it for me like the actions and satisfaction of using a manual. I will never go back. (y)

All cars I owned are auto's but I'd kill to drive a manual car, last car I drove manual was the 997 MKII cabrio and it was outrageously fun. Zero time shifts and double clutching all the time.

    I can't say I am good in double-clutching, but I love the heel-and-toe technic :D

Manual only for me... I want to drive my car, not just steer it like a video game ;)

    Hell yeah.
Funny thing is that I've never driven a manual in the US, but when I'm overseas, I only drive a manual :D.

I've never driven a car with a manual. I've never had the chance.

Driving lessons are only allowed to be done with manuals.

Of course I can drive a manual! I live in Africa where autos are a luxury. :)

Automatics are not that common in France.

Besides, you are only allowed to learn the driving with an automatic car for medical reasons.

I've had manual cars till the SLC.

my s5 in the us is manuel, but in lebanon i drive a range rover... a week ago i drove an e30 m3 in manuel i handled it like a pro, my back tires were spinning left and right :D

I hate manual. If I spend spend 50k on a car I don't want to have to do additional work to get where I am going. If I want involvement, I'll ride a bike.

Probably why I am the SLRs, biggest supporter.

Why not? What in the world is so important about driving a stick?

In France, we think that the driving license should allow you to drive ALL KINDS of cars.

Therefore, you always learn to drive with a stick (unless for medical reason, in that case it is written on the license). After that, you do whatever you want, but at least you know how to drive with a stick.

Big advantage: a French robber doesn't look ridiculous if he steals a car with a manual, because he knows how to operate it. :)
