Perhaps it's was poorly constructed sentence on my part Klier, I did have trouble in school with convoluted sentence structures, but I meant it would have done well in Australia and globally it could have added 10-20k in sales if it were sold in all RHD markets. :eusa_doh:
GLK should have RHD from 2014/2015 with X205? http://www.germancarforum.com/cls-class/35888-4matic-permanent-all-wheel-drive-cls-first-time.html Next Merc GLK 'will offer RHD' The next-generation Mercedes GLK SUV will be available in right-hand drive, according to Mercedes R&D boss Thomas Weber. The current model is only built as a left-hooker, due to the difficulties involved in fitting the right-hand drive steering mechanism around the propshafts taking drive to the front wheels. However, Mercedes has said it was a mistake not to make the vehicle for RHD markets, and it will develop all of its next-gen 4x4s for conversion. That means the four-wheel-drive C and E-class models will also be sold in the UK. Next Merc GLK 'will offer RHD' - Autocar.co.uk Countries with right hand drive - wikimedia :t-cheers:
RHD GLK confirmed. http://theworldofmbamg.files.wordpress.com "The UK will finally get a Mercedes-badged rival to the BMW X3 and Audi Q5 in the shape of a new GLK, which is set to arrive in the next two to three years." Read more: Mercedes S-Class range to expand | News | Auto Express
2013 Mercedes-Benz GLK Diesel Coming To U.S. This Fall Mercedes-Benz is working on an updated version of its GLK Class crossover, which is due for launch this fall as a 2013 model. Not only will the vehicle come with a host of styling and performance upgrades but it’ll also get a new diesel option in the U.S. The information was confirmed to Automotive News (subscription required) by Mercedes’ U.S. chief Steve Cannon at the recent 2012 Detroit Auto Show. The 2013 GLK Class will be the sixth Mercedes model to offer a diesel option in the U.S., joining the likes of the E, S, M, R and GL Class models, which all feature a 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine. The GLK is likely to sport a 2.1-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel making 204 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, an engine that’s already been emissions-certified for the U.S. Diesels have proven quite popular for Mercedes-Benz in the U.S. despite a slow initial acceptance, especially in the luxury segment. Diesels currently represent 15 to 20 percent of M Class sales in the U.S. and as much as 30 percent of GL Class sales. With its redesign and new diesel option, Cannon is predicting that sales of the 2013 GLK will reach the “high 30s” in the U.S., up from last year’s tally of 24,310 units. Prototypes for the new 2013 GLK Class have been spotted in the wild wearing new headlights and bumpers. Expect to see the hard-edged details of the current model softened a little, with the curvier look of the new 2012 M Class being adopted. 2013 Mercedes-Benz GLK Diesel Coming To U.S. This Fall :t-cheers:
Does that mean, the C 250CDI will be in the U.S this fall as 2013MY or they will offer that diesel engine for the new C ( U.S built ) in 2014? dtd
^ No news on the model year 2013 C-Class BlueTEC that I could see. The take rate for Mercedes-Benz diesel cars is low, just 4% for the E-Class, and 9% for the S-Class last month, so MBUSA may have decided to forego the expensive U.S. certification of the C250 BlueTEC at this time, as Mercedes-Benz car buyers presently prefer the new generation fuel efficient spray guided direct injection gasoline models. Mercedes-Benz diesel engines are more popular in trucks like the GL with a 23% ratio, the ML with 14% or the R-Class with 17%, or the Sprinter commercial vans with 100%, with more emphasis on torque and towing.
Thanks, Wolfgang for the info.I have been waiting for the C250 BlueTEC, I'm sure MB will succeed if they bring it over here. Otherwise, those VW TDI will eat their lunch. For the GLK, MB should soften the lines a bit ( more like the ML) in order to get even more customers. I would wait for the next generation GLK to consider. dtd
I sure would like to know what they're testing when you see all of that stuff in there. I mean what could be changing so much as to need all that equipment and testing done again from the original vehicle. Really interesting. M
Well they changed the transmission stalk from the center console to behind the steering wheel for one... Also don't be fooled. The interior will be different.
MB Passion says MB is working on two BlueTEC diesels, the GLK220 BlueTEC and the GLK250 BlueTEC, which might explain the test equipment. One of them is expected in the USA. It would be MBUSA's sixth diesel. Mercedes-Benz Passion eBlog :t-cheers:
