It has already begun...the Golf VI will live a short life.

Some early info; 2012 release. All-new platform. 'Efficient Dynamics' (more power, less consumption)

I wonder how many Golf generations there will be till the end of 2020. Oh, I know! VW presents the new Golf XVI!:D

Well, the Golf 6 is actually more like Golf 5.5. So no wonder the Golf 7 is so far in the developing process already.

I have yet to see Golf VI in person & they're already testing the next one! I'm lost on Golf gens! :t-hands:

Are we sure their not testing the R25 ??
... Still you are so correct bmer, when the MK5 came it
was a completly new car compared to the MK4 but
as you have allready pointed out the MK6 is a MK5 base
so maybe their allready testing the MK7 ...

I'll say that's cool with me cause Golf is THE best car evermade
    for a person like me.
    :)

edit. they are testing the MK7 haha shit.. !!

Interestingly, this model strategy appears to be working in favour of the consumer when it comes to resale value. The incremental improvement in Golf 6 (or 5.5 for those more cynical of you) means that Golf 5s have devalued less than would normally be seen in a typical generation jump. Used Golf 5 GTIs are fetching damn good money and have far less of that "the old model" stigma attached.

Giannis, I'd buy that Golf 6 in a heartbeat. It's a Golf. It's practically timeless. Unlike Megane, Astra et al. With a Golf you're buying a premium motoring appliance. Not a fashion statement.

Now that VW got a decent looking Golf, they are going to actually replace it :t-hands:

I really hope it won't be with this sh!t :

VW, please, Golf is not a Mazda 3 that you replace every 3-4 years !

I am just waiting for the greek version of the cash4clunkers law to be signed next month, so that I can give my crappy clio and get 2000€. Note that I can't get more than 300€ if I sell it.

    :t-cheers:

"De Silva also claimed the stresses of the job, which he started in February 2007, have led him to spending more time
in the past two years with VW group CEO Martin Winterkorn than with his wife."

LOL I don't think THAT will help with the new MK7 design.
