I guess Maserati is a bit short stack. The coupe seem to be 90% of a 4-porte. Thanks god MB didn't give an S-class with two doors removed instead of a proper CL. :eusa_pray

It is a re-interpretation of the original Quattroporte.

I really like the 1960s Maseratis.

C'mon guys, cut Maserati some slack... After all, these are spy pictures and they are nowhere near what the final product will be, you can count on that. Maserati will not allow an ugly Coupe to appear after their successful relaunch of the Quattroporte from the past... It'd be fatal for them ever more so since they're so cash-strapped. Does anyone know who will design this Coupe anyway, will it be Pininfarina?

For those who don't like the Quattroporte's design, I said the same before I saw the car in real life... It's something only beautiful when it's in front of you, when your eyes can explore and appreciate the lines of this car. I don't you can call this car a Buick only because it has those 3 side vents. It's actually a rehash of former Maserati tradition... Goodness knows why Buick inherited it.

Mirage, i saw the car thousand times IRL and like it a lot. No car is perfect (IMO), so one and only thing that i dislike is it's headlights. It is a re-interpretation of the original Quattroporte? Fine, cool, but i still don't like them, their shape and overall, that "sad" look from the front.

I understand what you mean - I don't particularly like the front of the Quattroporte as well. Look elsewhere then. :D

    SPY PHOTOS: Maserati GT Coupe

Rumors say that Maserati may use some of their old names for their new upcoming Coupe. The current names, Coupe and Spyder, do not really give the cars some true identity like it used to be in the sixties and seventies.

The new Maserati GT/Mistral will come as a 2+2 Coupe and as a 2 seater Spyder with a retractable steel top.

Its engine is based on the Ferrari built 4.2 liter V8, as in the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione. The new GT’s engine will have 4.5 liter and deliver about 500 bhp instead of 450 bhp as in the Alfa. The new car will have a double-wishbone suspension with the known Skyhook adaptive damping system and also the Cambiocorsa clutchless gearbox mounted in the rear. Another source is talking about a completely new 6-speed gearbox with paddle shifters from ZF, but also of a traditional manual gearbox with a clutch.

The design will be a mixture between modern and sporty looks and the classic Maserati A6GCS/53. The oval and at the same time concave grille will stand out and make this car a real head turner. The photoset includes a first shot of the dashboard. Launch of the new Maserati is expected at the Geneva Motor Show 2007.

Maserati needs to get away from using large swabs of black plastic, at the very least make the design pleasing to the eye.

No, she'll rather be in the backseat of the Phaeton, having a driver bring her around. :D

Deutsch, what slabs of plastics are you referring to? IMO, both the Gransport and the Quattroporte have excellent quality interiors.

The only plastics I see you are referring to are the centre console, but they are quite nice to the touch.

Sure, the interior looks nice in pictures. But it really isn't too hot in real life. Quality of the materials is far below par for such a car.

    Anyways, I'm not digging this.

    To each his own.

I think the materials are quite appropriate in real life - which parts exactly do you think aren't up to par? I'm curious to find out.

Be mindful that the Gransport is a update from the 4200GT, and also from the 3200 GT, which was released in 1998, nearly 8 years ago.

Having spent considerable time in both models of the current range I have to disagree, as I feel the quality of the materials is superb - very warm and inviting interiors.
