That is a great time for the RS5! Anything sub-8 is great.
And as I said earlier, beating the great RS4 B7 by 10 seconds, is one heck of a thing, especially how good the RS4 B7 handled.
Maybe the RS5 isnt that bad at all...

I wonder why they waited for the facelift before the supertest?

Yeah, it's a good time. No doubt. But I still hold the RS4 B7 quite a bit higher... on all but the looks account :D

    Darn beautiful car that RS5.

I test drove an RS4 shortly after it launched and back then it was pretty unique in having a high-revving V8 in a saloon car but compared to the RS5 is not really in the same league in my opinion because in every conceivable way the RS5 is better.

The magazine is in my hands: according to the 5 sector times the laptime is 8.01,8 min.

The car was equipped with Dynamic-steering, LSD, ceramic brakes, sportsuspension and 280 km/h-Vmax.

^I see it's power is right on the money at 448hp. Shame about the weight because we can only imagine how great it could possibly have been had it arrived 150kgs lighter.

See 1st post for scans. ;)

Faster then an M3 and C63 on both Nurnburg and Hockenheim.
    Impressive indeed.

Btw, it says two times; 8.02 and 7.59. So which is it?
  11. DeDe Contributing Member

According to the 5 sector times the laptime is 8.01,8 min.

But you can read clearly that it says 7.59 in the chart in the right. Why?
  13. DeDe Contributing Member

Who knows? Maybe they posted the 2nd fastest time (8.02) on the trackpanel.

Another mysterious 7:59 for an Audi RS model. :D

Jokes aside, that are some quite good results. The M3 still got more points and does several things better but even being that close is quite an accomplishment for the RS5.

    Best regards,

^ And yet on this occasion it wasn't just hearsay but Sport Auto stating it in writing.

P.S. Piss poor showing on both slalom and wet track, note to self 'don't allow mine car to come with Pirelli rubber'.

So, the official time is 7.59, as it says in the chart?
  17. DeDe Contributing Member

    Maybe.
For me the official time is the 8.01,8 min, but I'm sure that SA will tell us the real deal.

Will? When? They already posted the test in their magazine...

But it doesn't mean they will not correct themselves in one of the next issues (or on their website).
