Intel Report: Audi S7 Scheduled for Paris Launch Sep 10, 2010 by: Fourtitude Staff, Images: Audi, Renders: Fourtitude Staff With the Paris Auto Show just a few weeks away, rumors have begun to swirl surrounding Audi’s planned showpieces. Alternating every other year with Frankfurt, these two auto shows are THE major European events opposite the calendar with Geneva. Thus far the only confirmed reveal from Ingolstadt is the Audi A7 and that car was already shown in person at and event in Munich last month. Given Audi is normally good for 1-3 model reveals and often a concept at a major auto show, it’s no surprise that theories on the concept (we’ve read R4 e-tron Roadster on one site) or production cars (we’ve read S1 on another site) are surfacing. We’ve begun pressing sources for some insight on what else might be see and we’ve received one answer we hadn’t heard before… the S7. With the A7 already shown maybe it’s logical that Audi will also reveal the S-car version of the car, the S7, alongside. Audi doesn’t usually drop an S-car along with the A-car but technically this isn’t the A7’s first outing. With so much new product in the pipeline, Ingolstadt’s got to make the most of the big shows. One thing we know about Audi is that they are very consistent with their S-car design and design cues. Given this, we can take a guess at how the S7 will appear and feel safe in suggesting this guess will be accurate. It is likely the car will wear bodywork from the A7 S-line and include stylistic changes consistent with the most recently revealed S-car - the 2011 TTS. We’ve added these cues to A7 S-line images for our rendition. Most intriguing to performance enthusiasts is just what engine will reside under the hood. The idea of a revised version of the old V10 has been kicked around and garnered momentum on the pages of magazines and within the blogosphere but our sources have been suggesting the V10 is not consistent with Audi’s efficiency efforts internally referred to as ‘downsizing’. Our intel and a few assumptions suggest the car will be powered by an all-new twin turbo 4.0T FSI that’s closely related to the new base V8 engine confirmed with little detail in PR materials for the Paris-bound new Bentley Continental GT. A while back a source of ours at the senior-most levels of Audi told us a bit about this new 4.0T. This new evolution of the corporate V8 will make use of a biturbo configuration with all the goods housed between the V in order to save room on packaging. That conversation spoke of the 4.0T in the context of the A8 but further discussions with other sources have confirmed the engine for the S6 as well. Here’s where we begin to make our own assumptions. Audi has always shared powerplants between S6 and S8 ever since the first S8 was introduced. That strategy is unlikely to change and, with the A7 shoehorned in between, it is logical that the A7 would also get this new engine. Given Bentley may show the 4.0T version of the Continental GT at Paris, a rollout of the first 4.0T there as well is a reasonable conclusion. What else will be included in the S7 offering? Expect Audi’s Sport Differential as seen on the S4 and maybe a 7-speed longitudinal S-tronic DSG transmission. Since the U.S. A7 will get Tiptronic only, we’re banking S-tronic at least and maybe a full-on manual transmission for purists. Sport seats and carbon fiber trim are also usual suspects in the S-car portfolio and would compliment the car’s dynamic interior design. Fourtitude editors will be attending the Paris Auto Show and full details on the S7 will come forth as they become available.:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana: cant wiat for paris!!!!!
That's quite a promising impression. The S7 will be quite a looker and will rival the CLS in star factor.
I'm one of very few here that truly love the look of the A7 and when the sporty versions come along it will only enhance it's looks in my opinion. But it will new 4.0TFSI that is the star, regardless of the car they put it in.
That sounds fantastic, they will also present a convertible version of the R4 concept.October cant come soon enough.
And don't forget the RS3. Also there's a rumour that something very special might appear in Paris too...
good call Audi S1, Audi S8, Audi R4 e-tron Roadster, Audi S7 Sportback: Heading to Paris Motor Show September 13, 2010 | Source The Audi S1, the Audi S8, the Audi R4 e-tron Roadster and the Audi S7 Sportback (see our previous Audi S7 Sportback intel report) are all said to be heading to Paris Motor Show next month. Awesome! ccording to the reports, a drop-top version of Audi’s Detroit e-tron concept is set to take stage in the city of lights along with the performance-minded incarnations of both Audi’s smallest and largest models, the S1 and S8. In addition to the S1, S8 and e-tron roadster; AMundS noted that the A7 and R8 GT will make their official world debuts at the Paris show. If this info is accurate, we will be looking forward to official photos and specifications of the S1 and S8 in the next few weeks. Lastly, Auto Motor und Sport points out a possible conflict with the “R4″ designation that many use to describe this new e-tron and other “baby R8″ concepts.
no s7 in paris Audi S1 and S8 Set for Paris Says Auto Motor und Sport. No Mention of S7. :eusa_doh::eusa_doh: German automotive magazine Auto Motor und Sport published their own Paris preview and in that suggest that Audi plans to pull the wraps off of a new S1 and S8, S-car versions of the all-new A1 and A8. Interestingly, A,M und S makes no reference of an S7 that was suggested by a source of ours at Audi just last week. A,M und S is usually a reliable source so we're taking mention of these two cars seriously. Questions remain about the S1 such as engine choice and whether or not the car will mark the first Audi S-car to not use quattro. Audi's Michael Dick told us Ingolstadt was working on an AWD setup for the car but nothing yet has been seen. As for S8, expect the car to use the same 4.0T that is believed to be in the S7 and has been confirmed as a base engine for the updated Bentley Continental GT. Mention of the S8 gave us reason to dig up a picture we'd cross-posted in an article back in June. This render by Acerbus uses the latest S-car desgin cues and applies them to an A8. While we doubt the car will have the split grill bar as seen here, the Acerbus image is probably fairly accurate based on what we expect to see. So which S-cars will be in Europe It's hard to believe that Audi would pull the wraps off of three new S-car variants in just one show but stranger things have happened. We believe our own source saying 'S7' to be accurate and we've heard S1 from a number of journalistic sources so our money is on these two. Given the likely shared drivetrain for S8 and S7 this may make sense but why Audi wouldn't save some of these for other shows this fall in America and in Japan is unclear. With about a week to go before it is officially unveiled, spies outside the Nürburgring caught several high quality photos of an undisguised Audi S7. The car features the familiar front fascia of the company's S-series of vehicles, and shows a few details of the development of the company's design language. Sitting above a front splitter, the foglights ringed in chrome, split with aerodynamic elements and surrounded by blacked-out mesh. The headlights and grille are pretty much the same as those on the A7. The S7 is sitting on five double-spoke alloy wheels covering up very large brake discs. The rotors are clearly larger in the front than the rear, but calipers do not appear to be as big as expected. In back the car features a quad exhaust, with two tailpipe tips set under each taillight and separated by a chrome line. The car will get its debut at the Paris Motor Show at the end of the month Read more: Audi S7 spied completely undisguised
