I told you it was the presentational 1:1 clay model. Now we know it's an old one, and the one that wasn't chosen for production.

So, the question is - which car is this?

5-year-old design study ... hm. Usually 1:1 clay models are presented about 3.5 years before the model enters the production.

Which means this is a model that started production about 1.5 years ago.

Meaning this can be one of the two proposals for .... X6! :eusa_thin

Doesn't sound logical - since the car is radically different than the production car - and the briefs for the designs are very precise, and the two final designs are very similar - apart from styling. Proportions are the same.

So, it's not the X6. 5er GT? No.

So, it could be one of the canceled BMW projects ... X4 - Sports Activity Sedan. :eusa_thin
    Or the 4er series - 4dr coupe. :eusa_thin

If this is the case, and not a ditched study for some X version of a 4-series, I think they made a very wise choise. Whatever one may think of the concept behind the X6, the car itself is very beautiful, something that cannot be said about this pile of clay.

So T is saying one thing and tine another. :D Who's the real deal ? :D I am much more inclined to believe it's an X series but if am correct, the X4 would have been about the size of a 3 series, and this is clearly too long for that.

Its probably PAS but with only 2 doors , voila and we have a PAS Coupé. Halleluja!!!!

Dude, I love your passion. I promise.

But you have to chill. Take a drive in that lovely Bimmer of yours deep into the country and marvel at the joys of driving for what they are now.

Because, in 20 years time, we'll all be driving silent cars that charge overnight, with no gear lever, no clutch pedal and certainly no thrill of driving. It's not a guarantee of course but this time round I think the Electric Vehicle is on the verge of mass-viability and that internal combustion engined cars will be emissions-taxed, noise-taxed, fun-taxed and social-insensitivity-taxed to the hilt.

In fact, may I go so far as to say that, in order for BMW to win the hearts of niche-market driving enthusiasts such as you and I, they darnwell better bolster the financial coffers of the company first by offering BMWs with more comtemporary mass-appeal. Clearly, this is the primary focus for now. The zooty, low-selling, halo cars will come when the time is right.

No, it is not too long. I'd say it is somewhere just above 4.5 meters. That fits perfect with the lenght of the next generation X3.

Frag, you're in fine fettle today. Very funny! :D

hmm... Camero... Transformer... anyone? I think it's not Jon's rendering, it maybe the slim headlight effect from the new concept. It doesn't feel BMW character from the new kidney grill style.

Damn you Martin for stating the truth. You know what, if I freaking have to I will store petrol in drums for decades if I have to. When everyone starts driving electric cars, and combustion engine cars are worth next to nothing, then I will buy those cars (lambo, ferrari, Zonda) and put petrol in them and drive them REALLY fast on the road and be the envy of everyone with a beating heart.

Don't ruin this moment Martin...let me dream. :D

The pics posted by Scott and Jonsibal might just be it, though I hope they aren't. I see a resemblance to the M1 hommage in it, among other things...curious to see what the actual clay/concept looks like now.

    By the way.

The detour tone of this thread must be in jest. Because the same things being brought up in most BMW threads these days I read/post can't all be about the same repetitive things, whether it's about the title/vocabulary placement of a thread, the direction of BMW, or creative marketing.

There's a slow divide emerging-those who are becoming way too passionate about the darnest things, and those who are getting tired of those that are becoming way too passionate about the darnest things.

I favor sticking to the script-the secret BMW car spied.

This is directed at no one in particular; I'm just stating my observation. Not to antagonize or be antagonized.

    Pathetic, ugly nissan fx-like POS!

In other words, I don't like it one bit:t-banghea.

So let me get this straight. BMW keeps full scale 1:1 models of cars for over 5 years, even the ones that were rejected. Not only do they keep these cars, but they also cover up the rejected models and transport them around.

Why does this make absolutly no sense at all.

    None.

There is so much confusion and misinformation here. Tell me another..

    Hey guys, and Jon.

Sorry, I did a re-chop of Jon's work again with the larger grill (as I did before) and re-did the rear door to better reflect the suicide doors like the RX-8...but of course I did them with the handles. I also have one without the handles too.

Hey, Jon, I'd love some pointers if you got them. Sorry about messing up your chop bro. :t-cheers:

NarutoRamen, looks good man. (y) I think enlarging the kidney grills made it meaner.

I actually redid the chop too. About the same changes as what you did (grills and suicide doors) and cleaned up some of the panels a bit more..

    Here is version 2.

Thanks a lot man. You're version is a million times better, that's why you're the pro and me an amateur. :D
