You guys are forgetting that a Toyota variant will also be produced off this platform - albeit it nowhere near as attractive and sleek as this thing! Who knows, maybe Toyota will also provide a Lexus offering from this platform (makes sense since they're trying to build their -F lineup and brand image). Produce a brand new SC Coupe and Hardtop Convertible with a slightly subdued and elegant styling (similar to the numerous LF Concepts we've seen over the years). Or simply go all out and make this an LF-A Junior...and smack the crap out of the next M3 and its peers!
Yep yep! Subaru also has a version of the FR-S in the works too. Maybe, that is a good alternative to the 'Scion'. It will be the first ever RWD Subaru.
As an MB owner I'm in no way surprised to hear this. Heard a similar sentiment from a Jag owner this morning actually. This car is something different from the huge and staid current RWD coupe market here in the states. If anything it points the direction the Mustang, Camaro, Challenger, Genesis, 370Z and whatever else might fit the criteria of the segment will be going in in the very near future. If they keep most of the elements of the concept car in the production cars design it may just very well end up the sexiest sports car reasonable money can buy. I'm ecstatic to hear there will be a 6spd paddle shift gear box on offer. If I can fit I'll definitely consider pulling the trigger. Provided of course the sex appeal stays.
I thought that the production Toyota will be sold as a Scion, Stateside, and as a Toyota elsewhere. A lexus version with a twin-turbo flat-four would be awesome! I wonder if Subie's flat-six with a turbo would be able to fit underhood.
that is correct. no doubt it will. Subaru apparently has a turbo version in the works. I get the feeling this motor will respond well to modding.
Maybe an SC replacement? Either way it will be expensive. Toyota or Scion would be much more affordable.
A poor-man's LF-A? How lovely. I'm eagerly anticipating this car to be one of the few worthy alternatives to a Porsche Cayman or 135i. There are very few rear wheel drive two seater on the market in the 30-45k region. Let's just hope the car won't become a victim of ricers like the Mazda RX8.
The exhausts on the prototype look pretty big. Very promising. The styling seems to be a mix of the 2nd and 3rd concept. It looks good. Real good. I'm just hoping the reverse lights are not on the bumper, one of my biggest styling pet-peeves.
Guys try to look at that picture imagining you're not the owner of that little devil... Impossible !!!! What a great car !!!!
Yep. In 5-10 years time (after release) this car will be a bargain to get as a used car, not to mention the part that you can actually track it after mods since the parts will be cheap.
The problem with that though Luw is it probably looks like a Toyota and feels like a Toyota....Oh wait...that's never been a problem for Lexus. :t-crazy2: But seriously, while it may be worth badging this thing as a Lexus in some markets, they'd need to make sure the build etc. are in line with what is expected.
