Was just about to post the photos. The embargo has been broken. I'm glad the LED strip has been retained because it gives the rear a very lovely accent. The Targa model will be very hot.

Does it look any wider ?

The 991 C2 already has such a nice wide rump that it's harder to tell with the 991 C4 it seems. It is noticeably wider back there though, I'd say I like the look of the C2 better as it has a perfect balance of "Wide Porsche Ass" and elegance. The 4's butt is just HUGE.

    If you look at a 991 C2 next to a 997 Turbo, I think the 991 C2 has a wider butt.

Guys, this belongs in a new thread. It's significant enough!! Would a mod be kind enough to make a new thread?

I'm digging the LED strip, a lot!

    K-A, a 997 Turbo is wider I believe.

Love that rear LED strip - integrates nicely with the styling and tail light design.

Check this pic out (the one I was referring to). Seems pretty close, but 991 C2 might seem even wider.

Love the lightbar. About time they brought that back (reminds me of the 993, my favourite 911 still)

The rollout is happening just like the last salesman said it would. Turbo arrives Jan 14th 2013.

And the integration of it is terrible. Resembles a belly button :(

Other than Mercedes Benz, I don't think any other car manufacturer has managed to integrate the sensor without making a mess of the fascia.

I can understand having it on the Panamera, but having that sensor on a 911 is a sacrilege.

That light strip is what the 4 needed, and it does look slightly wider in some photos.

True, they should have moved it to the left or the right. I know it's not exactly aesthetic but for the added practicality/safety I can live with it.

They could have mimicked Mercedes' solution which is a bit a bit more flush with the mesh grille.

You do realise we are talking about mere millimeters, and that it is IMPOSSIBLE to see on such a photo, right?
"Seems pretty close" is nonsense. Of course it's pretty close.

That strip of light should be available on all models, btw. Not just the AWD models.

Go ahead and smack yourself in the head because THAT'S MY WHOLE POINT! ;)

It's so close that it's "as wide as the 997 Turbo", or maybe "insanely slightly less wide than a 997 Turbo", or maybe "insanely slightly more wide than a 997 Turbo".

    Get it? :inpain:

.... another point as to how wide the 991 C2 is.... I was just on the 911 Boards and it seems some Porsche buffs don't even know if the C4 is wider yet (hard to tell based on pics).

You can actually easily tell - the rocker panels on the wide body models have an extra step/groove at the bottom.
