^ Spoken like an Audi connoisseur with experience I'll give you that. Get out of your Q5 and into an A4 and you'll be immediately disappointed. Q5 is far more solid feeling with better surface and switchgear tactility. I've does this exercise countless times. Plastics are flimsy in places, brittle, buttons feel cheap, dashtop feels hollow and insubstantial, the list goes on...

I take no exception whatsoever to the excellent interiors you mentioned above. Audi sponsors the Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture providing chauffeur-driven park-n-ride services and it's an excellent opportunity to sniff around some lovely cars. A6 and A7 - the latter even more so - impressed me deeply (Human is overly fussy! ;) )

Compared to the Q5 then I must concede that the A4/5 isn't as good but I wasn't comparing it to another Audi just it's rivals and in my opinion even this design is better. Actually the Q5 remains me of old school Audi rather than its most recent design even though it came after the A4/5.

When I wanted to buy a new car a few months ago, I testdrove the A5 and felt the small disapointment from the A4 interior there (of course, the A5 exterior was something you just drooled over). It was little better somehow, but I still didnt like the plastics around the MMI. Then, when I got into the big Q7, it was better, but also still... the area around the MMI was just wrong. And as you say, when I got in to the Q5, I was like WOW! They really fixed all the "design mistakes" in the Q5. Everything feels on place, and the feelings is sober and quality to notch. There is no cheap plastics anywhere. That, of course except the beautiful interior, was the "it" for me when I bought the car. Everyday when I get in to the car, I feel like im in the premium car, and I love it.

    Example of A5/S5 interior:

Now if you ask me, that is a HUGE difference. :)

Sorry bout the OT though! Back to the thread. :)

A3 looks okey but I think you need to be a Audi fan to really appreciate the car. The car looks more like a facelift rather than a new car. I'm no fan of the interior either.
A-class. Am I really looking at a Mercedes? In some angles it looks like a cool car but the rear is horrible, very non Mercedes.
1-series. Unlike many other I really like the front but it need to be the right color + xeon lights and likely M-package. But thats the only thing I like about the car.

If I wanted a new car in this segment then these three germans are not something I would spend my money on. The new Opel Astra OPC is the one I want. It might not be the prettiest car on the planet but Im smithen by this car. It looks badass, mean and cool. With the right price its a candidate for my next car. 280 smashing horsepower in this little car. Recaro seats, Brembo brakes. Wow I want one.

PS Whenever BMW wins a poll, people blame there are too many BMW fans. Now that excuse doesnt work anymore ;)

Minus those awful lights the concept looks fairly decent. The facelift can't come soon enough.

Same case all over again. I just deleted a few more off-topic posts.

It seems that some people here are simply unable to grow up and move forward. As if this is a football match between BMW and Audi fans. Please, grow up and get over it. And if it's not much of a trouble, why don't you stay on topic for a change?

Look at the VW in font of it the lights are so similar. The front doesn't look odd from the angle though.

Wow, that rear pic looks like a mixture between the A-Class and C-Coupe! Shame on M-B!

As for the Poll.... I think this just goes to show just how unattractive the 1er is to most. I don't think any amounts of pictures posted will change that.

Based on my observations from Geneva today, there's a clear winner for which car created the most interest. It was the A Class.

That, IMO, is more of a good job behind the camera. ///M kit does adds up but boy, them lights look odd enough to ruin the rest. :eusa_doh:

Agreed that head-on, it's no oil painting (the headlights that is), yet neither was the forerunner's (head-on)...IMO

Hi Betty seeing as you were at the show i hope you sat in the A class..can you give your humble opinion on the looks obviously your view and aslo the quality off the Interior as some feel its poor quality based on the pictures ..Also what is the view off people at the show regarding the new Baby Benz...

IMHO, in real life the A3 interior and exterior didnt match my expectations compared to the photos, where as the A Class exceeded them.

In Florence now. Had a great drive down through Italy, along the coast. Some of the best driving roads I've been on. Not in the R8 though. Got a 525d xDrive for the weekend. What a superb car.

I definitely envy you, man. It must be magnificent driving along the coast and through the Tuscan countryside. I remember being a young lad and going to the Boboli Gardens (I think it was the Boboli Garden) and catching the sun setting upon the city of Florence. Definitely an image etched in my memories. Been trying to go back to that city for awhile now. Hope you are enjoying it. As per Gianclaudio's recommendation, stock up on some good vino. :t-cheers:

To the other readers: sorry about the off-topic post here.

I like the 1 series with M pack. Bonus is also that it actually looks like a BMW.This photo is a great example. I think the coupe is going to be nice.
