    I have seen those before.

The news are that VW's coupe will be based on the same platform with the upcoming Audi A4 and A5.

The first post's pictures are pretty good, but they really need to do something with the front. The chrome thingy is really pushing things far too much. It doesn't even look really nice to begin with.

Speaking of which... I do hope they do not incoporate the new VW corporate grill into a facelift for the Phaeton (if there is one).

    VW 4-door Coupe

    Another "Truth in Marketing" Blunder

Mercedes dropped its "coupe" last year, now VW is getting into the action. The 2007 Passat Coupe will compete directly with the Mercedes CLS in the "lets just make up a product segment" market. The 5 door "coupe" will use existing VW architecture and engines, will be "substantially cheaper" than the $65,000 CLS and will fall in between the Passat and the Phateon in the VW model line.

The new Passat "coupe" looks pretty sexy, and I wish that the bold front end could be used for the new Passat four door or the Jetta. However, VW would be better off if they offered a true two door in their lineup instead of making a clone of a car that they already sell. Does anyone at VW know what they're doing?

Damn, that is one sexy car indeed! Blows the CLS in terms of profile and design. Nice!
Any news if VW have given the green-light to a 4-door Coupe yet ? :)

    Volkswagen 4-Door Coupe Concept

As you know from before, Volkswagen is looking to add more new models while reducing cost. To do that, Volkswagen will be looking to take some lessons from it’s premium brand, Audi using their modular architecture strategy. Well it seems like the first vehicle from that collaboration will be a new four-door coupe Volkswagen, otherwise internally known as the CC or I/O 511.

With a length of the four-door coupe Volkswagen measuring nearly 4.90 meters, the car will most likely use the platform of the Audi A6. The base model is expected to have a 2.0 liter engine producing 150 horsepower and another 2.0 liter turbocharged engine producing 200 horsepower. The top of the line variant is expected to have a 3.6 liter V6 engine producing up to 260 horsepower.

The four-door coupe Volkswagen is said to make its debut at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show with sales to begin later that Summer.

I don't know where this model will sit especially if the Phaeton's gonna go downmarket, at a price just above the top-spec Passat.

Maybe this is the new Phaeton? :eusa_thin Any word, phaeton?

    Re: Volkswagen 4-Door Coupe Concept

This is definitely not the Phaeton II ;)

Phaeton will continue on D-Class (A8) platform & Passat Coupe will grow a little to bridge the gap between Passat and Phaeton ;)

    Re: New VW 4-Door Coupe

Volkswagen is set to release a new four-door coupe in ten month’s time with a starting price around the €30,000 mark. Internally codenamed the CC, the new coupe will share most of its mechanicals with the Passat and could make its first appearance at the Detroit Motor Show in January next year.

The entry-level model will feature a 160hp 1.8L TSI motor and a six-speed manual for about €30,000. This will be followed by a 2.0L turbodiesel with latest Common Rail technology that’s good for 140hp and should feature a €32,500 price tag. Topping out the range will be a 300hp V6 FSI version with AWD and a dual-clutch gearbox for €40,000.

To keep costs low, much of the car’s equipment will be available as optional extras including goodies such as a reversing camera, parking sensors and panoramic glass-sunroof, reports AutomobilWoche.

The aggressive pricing strategy is necessary so that the new model isn’t positioned too closely with the Audi A5, which starts at €44,000. VW is also wary of the mistakes it made with the unspectacular Phaeton saloon, pricing the car too far out of reach of most VW buyers.

Street word has it that a new 4-door coupe by VW will be presented in Detroit 2008.
Now, according to German mag AutomobilWoche (translation: Automobile Wookie), the yet-unnamed model will debut at the 2008 Detroit auto show next January. It'll be based on the Passat and -- in Germany -- will start at around €30,000 with a 160hp 1.8L TSI motor and a six-speed manual, a 140-hp 2.0-liter turbodiesel for €32,500 and over €40,000 for a 300 hp V6 FSI version with all-wheel-drive and DSG.
