Opel is now the only manufacturer that doesn't make an ugly car!

And that comes from a man who always hated Opel!

He is not too far of the mark on this one. On looks alone, the Insignia beats any of its rivals from Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and even Alfa-Romeo.

I think Insignia looks boring. The front is nothing new and rear is imported from the Astra. Besides that Top Gear is a joke

I noticed that most of the mass-produced cars these days are looking better than the equivalent prestige rivals.

Mazda 6 looks much better than a BMW 3-Series, for example.

While i like the new opels,i'd never dare and say it looks better than Alfas.

I don't fully agree with Clarkson on his verdict. Opels are getting prettier, but he forgot the Meriva which still is a minger. However, as I said above, mass-market cars are now getting prettier than a similar rival from a more prestigious brand.

I don't think that's the case. The Insignia is not a beauty and certainly not better than a 3er. It's just very nice for it's price.

The fact with Audi, BMW and MB is that they have a certain design identity and they stick to it. A 3er could only be a BMW and same goes for every other of our beloved models. But Opel doesn't have a design identity and the Insignia could easily be (for example) Peugeot. It doesn't scream Opel, and now that i thought of it, it lacks a descent interior!
