Yeah. It's funny how in the recent 12 months, MB have counter attacked every single BMW release. Creative marketing at its best:D

Definitely, the 5er will be cock blocked quite hard. The Mini SUV has a similar fate as MB will drop the CL facelift on it. Production version of the X1 will be taken care of by the E-Estate. MB has all the artillery in the world to amke life a misery for BMW's marketing team. :)

You forget the relevant motive for today. Whilst Mercedes spent their budget on excessive vanity projects - BMW have over 50 vehicles that correspond to todays emission levels,
Meaning for premium efficient cars BMW is no 1. in each of it's segment.

Mercedes and Audi are not even anywhere near this target.
Take for example the S-Klasse Hybrid. Mercedes will not be selling this car in Right Hand drive markets but the new Hybrid 7er will be engineered for Right Hand Drive and sold in these specific markets.

While BMW seems to have forgotten what made them BMW in the first place.

Yet here in the U.S. none of these "efficient dynamics" cars are available. So much for being on target.

Now when you've raised the change to the surface, it's bothers me. MB is starting to get on my nerves with decorative design cues like the split bars and quad fog lights.

^Yeah good eye and a very nice touch(y)

Oh please...just take a good look at the S600..there's no way any BMW can top that.:D

So true..post of the day Kashif(y):D

And don't forget the SLS to piss on the entire automotive world..haha:D

The W140 had a different grille from the rest of the lineup so I guess its ok, but I too am getting worried about too many fussy little details on today's new Benzes. Making them simple again will likely be the them when the next generation models arrive with the next S-Class. Hopefully.

Yes, BMW are frustated because ... (sarcasm on) VERY IMPORTANT GCF members & AutoSpies readers (/sarcasm off) ... admire new Benzes more than the newest BMW cars. :t-crazy2:

Don't live in delusion some obscure internet forums matter. What it matters are the ACTUAL CUSTOMERS. Not some car enthusiasts like us debating about German cars & brands. We only get passive communication (feedback does not matter here).

And, yes - Scott is right ... here you can see Designo cars, and S600 V12 cars, and optional LED packages etc ... Wait for 760Li - especially in Individual edition. This Benz is only getting 5 minutes of fame - it's a facelift only. And MB is killing its spotlight by the SLS AMG car, and E AMG cars. S-class facelift what?

Oh how you wish this nonsense were true.

If anything introducing a new AMG product (the E63) and then letting details slip on the SLS AMG only strenghtens the AMG brand and leaves people wanting/anticipating more.

The S-Class facelift isn't in New York today so guess what? It will get all the hype again in 2 weeks when it shown to the public.

I understand what you are trying to get at, but surely some of their 'actual customers' are these 'enthusiasts'. First impressions count.

I noticed something I don't like about the revised interior (it may have already been posted). The center console wood used to extend all the way under the front armrest. So, when you opened the front armrest, the storage bin was surrounded by wood, a very nice touch. Now, the wood only extends from the front edge of the armrest to the dash. This is the same with the rear armrest. Plus, the wood is funky shaped, with a raised part for the command controls. Surely, a cost cutting measure or design simplification, but a design detail that was distinctive, furniture-like, and really nice. Money no object, I would have made it all one piece of wood, from front to back :)

    Sure.

How many members here think of buying an S-class, X5 / X6 M, MB SLS AMG, Audi R8 V10 etc?

    Max 10, perhaps?

And I'm sure they don't think things like LED lights, press photos, opinions of fellow members influence their possible purchase.

C'mon, guys ... We are not 5 anymore.

Actually comparing the specs to both cars , I see many areas where in fact the 760Li DOES top the S600.

The full information will be available soon but on first hand looking @ Efficiency and Power outputs between the two...
plus the 760Li incorporates many technology not yet seen in the conventional and regular 7er.

You have to understand that in product development there is a contingency plan especially with a vehicle with the 7er .
We knew that the S-Klasse would be coming up for it's mid-life refreshing so we have prepare for that and how they would fix or upgrade areas respective to combat the competition.

For that we look at media reports , tests , owners forums etc we look at what the journalist or owner states that works and does not work well. Mercedes-Benz do the same for feedback , we anticipate what they will do to the car and perfect ours accordingly. It's called second guessing and preparing for the improvements they nigh on expect to make for the mid life refresh , ultimately BMW are prepared.

So yes it's Mercedes-Benz that have their fifteen minutes now , but our slot is scheduled soon.
