Slightly underwhelmed here Maybe I need to see it in person. Interior doesn't feel more special than my F10. The front end design feels dated to me already.. That I think is its biggest weakness, and I'm not feeling the indicator "slots" at the bottom of the headlamps. The rear is quite tasty.
Stll don“t understand why the indicators on the headlights are not darkened as in the two concepts, and look like part of the cluster, they make the shape of the frontlights a mess.
as said before the blinkers completely ruin the front of the car, how can they let the car go out into production with details like that not being resolved, frustrating tbh!!
As in from the LA show? If that's what you mean then, no, there aren't any. This is an internet-only release that conveniently coincides with all the cool sh!t that's going on at the LA show.
NAIAS in Detroit opens to the press on 10th January 2011. Geneva 2011 opens on 1st March to the press.
^Thanks Betty, I really ought to have looked it up myself but simply lacked the enthusiasm. So, between January and March of next year it ought to be a busy time for BMW. Let's hope they show a BMW M5 Concept too at Geneva while they're at it (OT, I know...)
This angle, this shot and this colour has me convicted. BMW have created a gorgeous epictale of athleticism ang new age luxury. I'm impressed by the sheet metal work of denting the doors and front wings to create a signature character line equivalent to the wheel arch dominating the rear fenders of most new Mercs. Unlike the CL, Jaguar XJ and CLS, the new 6er is expensive but doesn't look posh. In other words, it might might make you look like a cock but not a pretentious snob. And hey, it's gorgeous too. I particularly love the rear section of the car and now find myself at peace with BMW after 6 years of distaste for Bangalized 6er. I even find 8-Series to be a more fitting name for the car because it's geometrically handsome tail lights and boot lid. Deep red glass couldn't have been more perfect. The decision to launch the convertible first is a master class in outside the box thinking. With most coupes we first think of them as coupes and then convertible simply because of the order the two versions are presented. More than anything, BMW are experimenting to find out whether we can be tricked into perceiving the new 6er as a convertible but the hardtop coupe version as simply a bonus -- similar to the Z4 for which the convertible is the default version that comes to mind when we hear the car's name.
I would be very surprised if they didn't have a concept M5 at Geneva. Anyway, to get back on topic, here's a picture of the ambient lights in the 6 Series Convertible. No they're not. The real reason is that the coupe was delayed. Simple as that.
I must say...BMW did an awesome job on this car! I love it. Of course I've always had a soft spot for the 6 series.
Latest models are just beautiful to look at. Unlike another german brand, BMW has a gorgeous set of cars.
BTW, the 640i will have 320 hp and the 650i 408 hp. I was expecting, as SCOTT claimed, the 650i would have 450 hp.
You guys should forget about 6er getting more horsepower than 5er. Not going to happen, neither with M5 vs M6.
To answer your question , though the LA Autoshow for BMW is purely driven by product in this case the new BMW X3 which is heading into a competitive market and is just about to go on sale in North America. The 6er Coupe Concept is fresh from it's World Premiere @ Paris and it's short stay at the BMW Welt. The 6er Cabrio will arrive on some markets across the globe in the Spring much closer to it's now adjusted Premiere at the Detroit Autoshow in January. The Coupe is scheduled to launch in Geneva in March much closer to it's mid summer launch on the market. However in some markets Coupe will come first before Convertible and some will launch on the market at the same time. As for the timing we have done this quite a lot in the past announced cars when an autoshow is in duration, because of the tight window in between each show LA then a month later it's Detroit and then a month later it's Geneva and this coming years sees the rotation of the Shanghai Autoshow and of course the IAA in Frankfurt in which Geneva , Shanghai and Frankfurt will see some signifcant new products and Concepts from BMW , MINI and Rolls-Royce. Next up in December though is the BMW 1er Coupe and Cabrio Life Cycle Impulse , The BMW 1er Coupe Active eDrive project car and of course the new BMW 1M Coupe.
Hey, it was what SCOTT said, and as the ActiveHybrid 7 features a 450 hp 4.4 TT V8 I thought they would just give this power to the entire line up, starting with the 6er, again as SCOTT claimed. Notice how the 640i is alightly more powerful than the 535i. But I agree with you, and no longer believe the M6 will have more power than the M5.
