Thanks Just_me. Man that F30 is just splendid - looks magnificent in red too and not many cars do. Lovely photo-comparison...

Thanks for those pics. It just shows how much bigger looking the new 3 is by comparison, especially bonnet height. In fact up to this point I felt it was a good looking design but now seen side by side the E90 my opinion has changed from good looking to stunning looking.

One of these will be my new background.

The f30 is looking pretty big compared to the E90. But I remember thinking the same thing when the E90 came out in '05

The E90 looks pretty good next to it, actually. It looks sportier, but that could really be credit to the mod-factor it has over the bone-stock F30, also maybe because the F30 practically looks like a 5-Series next to it, it's so much bigger.

I'm going to the dealer tomorrow to eat smorgasbord and take a look at F30. Moment of truth tomorrow. :)

Is it just me or does the F30 seem to have wider rubber in the rear? Is it the wider fenders that are playing tricks on my eyes?

I thought that the F30 looked good, but next to the E90 it looks less sporty and less agressive. The rear of the F30 on the last photo looks like the rear of the Alfa 155 or 166: very high and massive, so not very good. I hope the 4 Series will look better.

    Maybe because:

    a) the E90 doesn't run on factory suspension?

    b) it is modified by having a spoiler added, tinted windows, black grille and 'smoked' taillights?

    c) all of the above ;)

Compare the F30 with an OEM E90, and the result will be different.
Oh and besides the mods, the F30 beats the E90 in every way, particularly this pre facelift version :D

The E90 does stand up to it better than I thought it would. I see more of a "family friendly" vibe with the F30, and this ain't smack talking. The size, the more functionality-friendly look, the bigger greenhouse, and even the A-Pillar is more upright/less raked.

Man the new 3 series really looks great. I still think it looks like a mini 5 series, but there is nothing wrong with that in my book.

maybe it looks like that because of e90 color and black grille? f30 to me looks much more sporty cause of its agressive, kind of pointy design. Reminds me w212 vs w211

With equal mods, yeah, the F30 should look more aggressive and all around dynamic.

The F30's kidney's itself has a three-dimensional look, and with that piece of chrome on the sides the kidney looks more solid. The "shark nose" theme is prominent and leaning forward that together with the new headlights looks so beautifully aggressive. The really wide rear-end gives the car a good stance from the rear-view. The wheel arches looks really muscular and gives a solid look to the car. Thus much more sporty and mature that the E90.

    :t-cheers:

Not to mention, it wouldn't really be possible to see an increase in side between the E90 and F30 if the E90 would be sitting on standard suspension.

As far the debate goes I think I have already answered your question.

I can ad this, that being BMW's entry level cars both the F20 & F30 has to have handbrakes because teenage girls are turned-on by handbrake turns didn't you know?:D

I don't think. It on the contrary looks gay.

Back from a VIP show and for VIP it was crowded. Blue, grey, black and white color. White suits the car very well. And overall its a very appealing car. Interior design also great but I was disappointed with interior materials. I dont understand the fuss from media, the interior materials is certainly not as good as I expected it to be. Its not better than E90 and certainly not the same standard as a 5-series. Lots of hard plastic everywhere. Yepp, this was a huge disapointment to me. But still I wouldnt mind owning a F30.

Im going for a testdrive this weekend. Lets hope its drives as well as media says.
