Tomorrow is the 3's official dealer launch, if I get time I'll run over to them today and get a peck, otherwise I'll go tomorrow. Actually looking forward to this more than normal which is a surprise to me.

Just come back from viewing the new 3, they had it enclosed in a make shift room in the showroom so to visually compare to the 5 series sitting outside this room wasn't as easy as I had hoped but looking at both I actually think the F30 looks better than the F10. Surprisingly for me I felt the interior of the 3 to also look better and didn't perceive a noticeably difference in material quality. Also I know the car is slightly smaller but sitting in both you get the feeling of the 3 shrinking around you which is something I much prefer from a car.

Spacious too from my height, with me comfortable in the drivers seat I had approximately 2.5" between knee and seat when i moved into the rear. The great news is boot looks to be big enough for the wee man's w/chair so barring an awful driving experience I think I might consider this as a replacement for the Porsche so wife's has something decent to drive for her sacrifice of downgrading her GTI.

Only negative I felt when I compare with my old S4 was the quality of the leather on not only the seats but the steering wheel, both are extremely rough, hopefully the M/Sport uses a better/smoother grade of leather. Apart from that this is a beautiful looking car both inside and out.

I have to wait to next weekend before I can see the car.

You'll love it..... seriously love it mate.

I like my Audis and probably the S4 Avant was my all time favourite but the F30 on looks alone has it beat. Just hope it drives to my liking but reviews couldn't be more favourable plus Steve Sutcliffe's comments generally mimic my own and he absolutely loves it.

Might be another Beemers in the family yet.(y)

Just hear that UK F30 M/Sport production will be starting in June for late August/early September delivery. They estimate you will be able to configure it from Mid March/April. (y)

If not there is BMW Individual. If you end up buying the F30 I think you'll really feel the lack of LEDs.

The 5 GT failed, why have they not learned from their mistakes?

It's an embarrasing statement, and you even keep repeating it. Shame on you.

You can't expect BMW to load the 3 series with LED's. It's their entry level model and they don't want to push the price of the car too high. What will separate the 3er from the 5er or 7er? The lower models can not step on the toes of the higher models or you'll simply lose sales, basic marketing. Audi knows this, Mercedes-Benz knows this, and BMW knows this. They're the #1 selling luxury car manufacturer for a reason.

P.S. The F30 is full of LED's. I have no clue why you would think it's 'lacking' LED's.

Not that I want to get into this bizarre debate about the 3er and LED's, but the 1 Series is BMW's entry level model.

Entry level luxury model. I thought that would of been known but I'll be more specific next time.

Well MB and Audi knows that but still the A1,A3 and A4 are loaded with LEDs including blinkers and brake lights..The FL W204 is also loaded with LEDs fogs and blinkers front and rear so is the new B-class and new A-Class.;)

BMW is clearly behind both in this..this is 2012.:)

If I buy a F30 Im going to miss LED? LMAO
I get LED in the front and rearlights but I will shred tears becuase the car lacks LED blinkers. Even if it had LED blinkers I would never see it while driving. Instead I know I will be driving the the best and sportiest car in the segment. How is this going to make me miss LED. Ha!

Seriously guys , we had this discussin in the past, let not ruin this thread with this LED nonsense again.

BMW tradition to get LED brake lights for the LCI.

This. LED lighting should not be make or break for a vehicle purchase.
  16. Deckhook Well-Known Member

I am not completely sure about this but I think the M/Sport is offered with a better quality of leather and as for this nonsense about LEDs, can we please end this now, it's be debated about for long enough and continuing to bring it up won't get BMW to change things this side of the FL and it won't stop anyone from buying it neither.... well it won't stop me anyhow.

This argument is like deciding to not buy a car because cruise control is on a stalk instead of the steering wheel. :eusa_doh:

Are we still discussing this...... ...really ?
  18. Betty Swollocks Well-Known Member

How can anybody know you mean "entry level LUXURY model" when you write "entry level model"?

Besides which, what does entry level "luxury" model even mean? The 3 Series isn't close to being "luxury", and that's not meant to put the 3 Series down. It's clearly going to be a fantastic car.

And it's "would HAVE" not "would OF". (I don't wish to insult you but if things like this go uncorrected then nobody learns and people start to think it's correct).

LED's haven't been round long enough to call it a BMW tradition. :eusa_doh: It's not exactly the kidney grills or Hoffmeister kink.

Yes, there are examples of cars getting LED's come facelift time, but there are also examples of BMW's NOT getting LED's at facelift, and some having them from the start.

I agree with this. Would I prefer LED lights on my car? Yes. They do look a bit better. Does it bother me that the 3 Series doesn't have them? No. The fact that this issue takes up so much debate is bizarre.

Enough. About. The. LEDs. Or. Lack. Thereof.

This is just getting too silly now.

Really don't like these continuation threads at all.
