Now with AMG look front bumper. 4.0 twin turbo V8. 500hp and 660 Nm. No official figures of the weight yet. This makes the W12 version seems a little unnecessary.

    @ AMG front bumper.

Everybody's been copying the AMG front bumper look lately haven't they.

Wow. That is super nice. I am very interested in pricing. It would well be level with the CL500 or 911 Turbo. VAG are banking on it to be a top entry level seller.

    That looks gorgeous.

How much do you guys expect this to be?

I'm not a fan of the original GT, but from what I've seen of this "new body" (which is almost impossible to tell from the old body), *something* seems to entice me more, as if they fixed the proportions so smoothly that my subconscious tells me it's nicer.... Or I could just be imagining things. For all I know, I've seen some new GT's on the road and as usual thought "dame that thing is pretty ugly" while assuming it was the old one.

Regardless, so far, I'm a fan of the new one, and that car looks hot. For $100K, I'd probably pick it over anything out there at that price.

100k is a tad short. I am thinking more like 130k-160k which will be affordable enough to sway SL, CL, Panamera, Maserati and 911 Turbo buyers. Remember that the continental GT sales are far shy of the figures during its peak of 6000-8000 cars per year. I am sure the price of this car will be kept tempting enough to lure many customers. However they also need to safe guard the V12 version and not render it useless.

Looks more M than AMG, specially center piece.

Didn't AMG do that large gaping 3-hole look with the outside lower-bars slanted outward before M? As far as I know, some M's have that look now, but it's originally an AMG look. If not, then AMG certainly popularized that particular style IMO.

^ If not, MB first invented cars :D

Surprised it took them so long.

So now a million Dollar question; Is the mpg figure any better or this car is still among the worst guzzlers list?

Less torque than a CL5oo same thing with the W12 models and CL600/AMGs..it'll be slower than a CL500.

I'd definitely go for a loaded AMG CL500 4MATIC for sure.

Wow, it really looks fantastic. Is this the first time the front differential is mounted ahead of the torque convertor in the Bentley Continental?
  16. Wunderkind Well-Known Member

No no, the transfer case that feeds power to the front wheels is driven by a shaft that come from the end of the transmission, not ahead of the torque converter.

Only if it didn't have the stupid chrome thingy at the bottom... sigh.

No no, ;) I'm referring to the front differential and not the centre differential which sits at the end of the automatic transmission on the left of this photo:

On the right of the torque convertor you can see the front diff fed by the driveshaft emerging from the centre diff (far left) you're referring to.

It has been Audi practice for a few years now to mount the front differential ahead of the clutch(es) / torque convertor in their quattro cars but bugger me if I can find any cutaway images for the previous generation Conti GT's AWD system. A system which I believe used the old style layout of mounting the front diff behind the torque convertor.

    Martinbo,

Look carefully and you will see the driveshaft that runs for the length of the transmission (just below all the gears and clutches in the transmission case cut-out) that feeds the main pinion in the front differential.

I see exactly that my friend. I also see that where it terminates results in the front differential being ahead of the torque convertor (a very Audi-esque solution recently for AWD packaging).
