This thing is just Nuts! I just love Ferrari for the way they wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am launch a car. Just a few days after some completely uneventful spy pics and they hit us with this. At first I was like whoa! The moment soon passed and now I love it. I get a huge de ja vue hit of Z3 M Coupe - not a bad thing - but most of all I'm left with the appreciation of the boldness of the thing. It's completely different from the fastback Panamera concept or Aston Rapide four dour coupe theme. Brilliant - a bold move that epitomises Ferrari's position on the leading edge of the industry. 4RM: I'm just dying to see the technical pics of this system. Phwoaaar... Car Fan Overload... zzzzt... pop... Edit: Strategic Partner snapshot:
MAGNIFICENT!!!!!!!!!!! :icondrool:icondrool:icondrool:icondrool:icondrool GLORIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown: Sorry, eye of the beholder....I am speechless:t-woohoo: What a car!
I feel you on that. At first I was taken aback, but then I looked at it more carefully from a "usefulness" standpoint and it makes sense. It still has all the Ferrari DNA, but it's just a more sensible buy. Plus, I actually like the look of it a lot. It's different, but not in a retarded way that most manufacturers choose to "differentiate" themselves.
This is one brutal looking car, not what I expected after the 458. The over sized front grill, those wheel arches that goes well into the bonnet, the fat bonnet bulge and those angry looking headlights are very un-Ferrari. The side profile will take some time to get used to, I wonder how much more practical is it to have a shooting brake instead of a conventional coupe shape because it doesn't look like there is much additional luggage space. The rear end is fantastic, love those semi floating tail lights and diffuser. Actually do Ferrari need to make this shooting brake? I am sure your average Ferrari customer has several cars to fulfill whatever need/desire they have. Here is the promo video, the car sounds fantastic.
:eek2:...:icondrool And the best thing is the engine and power..660hp in that shape is gonna be out of this world experience..love the mad Italians!
Utterly bonkers. I've said this before, but it's definitely worth repeating: Ferrari are just on a whole different playing field from every other car manufacturer at the moment.
Damn this car is mean. A VW Scirrocco for the rich!! That is one mean front end. Finally a car with a fog light free bumper.
Ever since the F559 GTB, Ferrari has gone to great lengths to make their cars more daily drivable, though sadly they aren't 100% daily drivable as they catch fire. But the California has a metal folding roof and some practical features. Porsche Panamera and Aston Marting Rapide sell in great volumes and this Ferrari is a substitute for a four door coupe. Something a bit more distinctive and unexpected.
Very true. I always thought Ferrari should have kept Maserati and market it as sub Ferrari brand with added practicality, it was their original intension but somehow never planned out. If they still have Maserati, a new more coupe like Quattroporte will be just the car to battle against the Panamera and Rapide, and Ferrari can be free to build pure super sports cars. btw when you say "Finally a fog light free bumper" I don't think the current range of Ferrari has front fog lights on the front bumper, but they still have the rear ones hanging around the diffuser area.
Yeah. The Fiat Group has been uncanny with the development of the Maserati line-up. Only one new model ever 5 years or so is appalling. Whoever finds the Panny Turbo horrifyingly expensive or the Rapide overpriced till learn that this FF will be more than out of touch to none other than millionaires. The outgoing model, the unloved 612, is currently the most expensive Ferrari on market. It's even priced higher than the 599GTB and LP640. Manchester United football players are watering their mouths now. Fernando Alonso will be happy to replace his Renault Megane Coupe for another more powerful read 2+2 car.
I didnt think ferrari could make a car uglier than a 612. the 599 and 458 were steps in the right direction. this just isnt. and with a DRY weight of over 3900 lbs, the curb weight of this car will be close to that of the Veyron's.
