November Update. As you can imagine the rush is on for the 5er premiere @ the BMW Museum on the 23rd November, so burning the midnight oil as to speak. Here is a November Update. The 6er GT will be renamed as 6er CS instead of GT. GT will feature on the 3er. But the name CS has been chosen for more Performance orientated Coupe Sedans on the 7er and 6er. It also allows BMW to introduce a new (to BMW) niche for customers who desire for a 6er Coupe but need the space either for family or business purpose. But really love driving. Using the same philosophy as the 5er GT and the incoming 3er GT. The CS will look different from their bloodline brothers. The 1er GT has been axed because packaging was not working out. In it's place will be an X2 Sport Activity Coupe. Again four doors and bullet like coupe shape like it's bigger brother. Demand for the BMW X1 has convinced BMW management that in light of the X1 , X3 and X5 customers have been downsizing in the economic climate although the latest release is that the X1 is selling more to people who are first time BMW customers. An X2 would in essence be in place to accomodate a slide in demand for the X6. What is the proposed BMW "0" series? Well it's far from what the media are reporting. To understand the Concept look at the Vision Efficient Dynamics. And imagine if it was shrunk to about the size of a Prius four doors and a three cylinder diesel and electric power available to the segments standard of performance. A stand alone Premium Hybrid Concept , No additional body variants , no petrol alternative and no M models - The first Premium Compact BMW Hybrid Concept. The Precursor to the M1. The news of regarding the M variant of the 1er and the response has been selective at best in relation to which generation it relates to. The current 1er Coupe will get a send off and prepare the audience with a teaser. Having seen this car it is in essence similar to the E46 BMW M3 CSL concept . A power upgrade over the cars current 306 PS will feature as will Carbon Fibre for the Roof , Bootlid and Bonnet , stripped out interiors , lightweight glass and an individual aeropacket will seperate the car in looks from the 135i and BMW performance aeropacket. What to call the car? Top favourites are simply Tii and Turbo as name sakes to the classic 2002 and relevant names to the history of BMW. Other names are CSL of course. and Licht Sport. The next generation 1er Coupe in M variant will use a four cylinder turbo charged engine. An update on the 3er , X2 etc. Will follow in the next few weeks after the F10 launch.
Is it true the initial marketing scannings show customers' preference for naming this car "BMW Y4" ...
Thank u scott for the update but could make an update on the future 1-serie range and Z2 ? 3/5 door hatch ? coupé + convertible new cs, shooting break ? thanks in advance
so which of these two can we expext to be the better performer and more desireable overall? what output is anticipated for the 4cyl. turbo? if it's a 2.0ltr., 250hp/230ft-lbs.?? will the next gen model be lighter? previously Scott said that the next-gen 1er would "resist" the weight gain associated with the size increase of previous generations which implies comparable weight; the smaller engine could bring the weight down however. conversely, this next 1er might not receive the csl-like weight reduction measures delineated above. putting it all together perhaps the numbers will fall like this: current-gen "m1": 330hp/ 330ft-lbs., vehicle weight 3250lbs. vs. next-gen "m1"; 250hp/230ft-lbs., vehicle weight 3200lbs. of course the next m1 might get a 2.2-2.4ltr. which would change things or maybe it'll be light as hell say 3100lbs. i guess i'm wondering if the send-off model might be the true kick-ass model and the one to get:t-hands:.
^ Very interesting. They will both be kickass, that will not be the problem. Which one to be the more extreme/faster/fun remains to be seen. Both concepts have advantages...
What I want to know is whether the 6er CS will have radical, Mazda RX-8's style suicide doors - or conventional doors like the Merc CLS ? Answers please!
If using an I4 engine, I, as a consumer, would expect a MUCH lighter car than one based on today's 135i. At least 200 kgs.
Please tell me it will have a LSD or M Differential... thats one of the car's main handicap. If if wont have one it will be a half-ass job, even though the other mods sound great.
What about the 7er CS? I would be a shit that BMW´s flagship is a car wich concept was introduced by Mercedes.
If they do not include an LSD on this model, that could only mean that BMW does not want to compete in the same leauge as Audi or Mercedes.
You forgot positioning. A CLS is a mid-level luxury Coupe-Sedan. 7 CS will be a car for the luxury segment. 6 CS will be a car placed in the same segment as the CLS , A7 Sportback and the Panamera. 6 CS will not be as conventional as a typical Coupe-Sedan Concept. It will be more inticing in detail and function. 7 CS will be the ultimate flagship BMW and only be available with the V12 at first, Hybrid and V8 are future possibilities.
