    Spied: 2008 Nissan GT-R

Spy photographers caught what appears to be a production prototype of the 2008 Nissan GT-R. The car was seen in testing at the Nürburgring this week in Germany.

The car is based on the highly popular Nissan GT-R concept, first unveiled in late 2005. Earlier this year, the Japanese automaker announced the GT-R would be badged as a Nissan, much to the disappointment of Infiniti dealers. Since unveiling the concept, Nissan has tried to limit the car's exposure to prevent tiring the public.

Pricing is expected somewhere around $70,000. When Nissan first previewed the concept, it said the show car was 80 to 90 percent representative of the final shape. Rumors have indicated the car will feature a 3.2 liter twin turbo V6 engine with 480 horsepower. It is scheduled to go on sale in Japan in Fall 2007, followed by the U.S. and Canada in Spring 2008.

Wow. I like the overall shape, very edgy and futuristic. The pipes are pretty big too, it will sure be a Vette contender.

I didnt say anything about copying. All we see is a covered rear, who in the hell want to copy a covered rear.

    SPY PHOTOS: Nissan Skyline GT-R

These are the best shots yet of what’s to become Nissan’s answer to cars like the new Audi R8 and the future Lexus LF-H.

The all-new Nissan Skyline GT-R, likely to be introduced in spring 2007 as a 2008 model, was snapped testing at the Nürburgring in Germany by Nissan’s motorsport department.

The car features relatively thin disguising and yet gives away major details such as air-intakes in the front fenders and on the bonnet as well as two pairs of impressive exhaust pipes and a huge rear wing.

Reportedly, the car will be equipped with a 4.5-litre V8 delivering some 450 bhp.

I didn't say that you said. ;) It's just that everytime a new model is out, huge speculations about copying arises.

I don't know... there's definitely something screaming 'American' in the shape of the car. :eusa_thin Does anyone know if this is a product of the design studio in California or was it done in Japan?

"In our Christmas Special, we revealed what the stunning coupé will look like - and now bosses are teasing fans of the car with this official image of the badge

The logo replaces the Skyline name tag, and will appear on the newcomer when it makes its world debut at October's Tokyo Motor Show. It's due here in 2008, priced around £50,000.

A 480bhp 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 will ensure the Nissan has the punch to take on the competition, which will include Lexus's forthcoming V10 LF-A.

The GT-R also gets advanced four-wheel drive for maximum traction, plus a clever clutchless manual gearbox, similar to VW's DSG. Despite the huge power output, engineers claim the model will be easy for novices to handle, yet also provide enough fun for experienced drivers. (AutoExpress) "

I like what I see.

The Nissan Skyline has always been an exotic and the styling has always been so "typical Japanese sports car". When you saw a Skyline, you knew it was Japanese and not American, European or Korean.

I see a lot of elements from the Nissan 350Z and R34 Skyline here. Although I think the Nissan 350Z is hideously ugly, I feel these design cues mixed with the R34 styling cues make for a nice and sporty looking car. I also enjoy the futuristic style this car seems to have.

No doubt it'll be a killer.
