When is it due, end of this year or early next year?

Thus making it even uglier than the current one. Is that really possible?? :eek2:

Nice try. You can see very well with your sonar heatseeking eyes.

Let me guess.....Audi Q5 all the way???

That camo works great, there is nothing you can make of the shape of the car apart from the overall lines, no details are visual on the photo's due to that weird pattern.
Maybe this time nect year we will have some more details and can some speculations be made on how it will look. Oh and the current one isn't ugly at all IMO.

Methinks there already is a thread for this.

What? I was merely replying to the "Looks like it will get the new 7er-type front end" comment. The new 7 series looks dire, so if this were to be the case (hypothetically speaking, of course) grafting that front end on to what is already quite an aesthetically challenging vehicle would, in my mind's eye, result in quite severe retinal trauma. Obviously this is only a test mule, so time will tell.

Q5? Not really my cup of tea but only the most die-hard BMW proponents would argue that it's not a more attractive design. Most of the BMW enthusiasts I know of despise the X3; even my local dealer is embarrassed to give them out as courtesy cars. If I had to choose between the Q5 and its competitors on looks alone I'd pick the Audi in a heartbeat.

Yep. And this are pre-FEP heavily clad prototypes.
First time ever pre-FEPS using also the new psychedelic cover tape.
So, even the heavy plastic covers are hidden well.
    Very clever.

All we can see are the silhouette lines.

This car is coming in late 2010. So, two years still to go. :D

Re: Spied: New generation BMW X3

I hate it that this car is still selling so good. Late 2010 means we will first have the F10 5er, and maybe even official pics of the new 6er. X1 will be on sale and PAS will be there too with the new Z4......
Current X3 is one of the oldest cars from Germany now. Now with the F01 7er, there is a whole generation of cars between the two. X3 is based on old E46 stuff....ancient.

..What I am trying to say: why is the X3 so late the the party? Is it only because it sells still? That will surely change rapidly when the GLK and Q5 hit the streets (I hope)
I don't understand why we will have an X1 Concept @ the Paris car show, but no new X3.

Motorauthority thinks this is the X1.

If they can't differ both model (both prototypes are featured on their site) then help them God!

It's obvious these are 2 different cars, and the later is X3, the other X1.

The front is much like 7er and CS, the overall shape y much better than actual X3. Taillights having last hucks style?.

The current BMW X3 will soldier on for at least the next few years until the arrival of an all-new model towards the end of the decade. Nonetheless, these are the very first spy-shots of Munich’s compact SUV, snapped undergoing road tests outside the Nürburgring.

The new X3’s dimensions will hardly change compared with the current car and its styling will be shaped to reflect elements from the CS Concept. The basic shape will remain much the same, however the new model is expected to feature a more prominent grille plus new wraparound headlights.

Designers will also focus on improving the quality of the interior, as the new X3 will be facing stiff competition from the recently unveiled new Audi Q5 and Mercedes-Benz GLK.

Production of the X3 will be moved to BMW’s Spartanburg plant in the U.S. where it will be built alongside the new X6 and X5. Expect to see the twin-turbo 3.0-litre from the 335i make its way into the X3 range as well as the powerful but frugal new 152kw 2.0-litre turbodiesel.

A new hybrid model is also tipped to be on the table.

Must be very frustrating to have your trucks confused. I have a solution: Cancel 3/4 of them. :D
