I don't understand why Audi are releasing so many variants of each car. Their model range is getting out of hand. Before it used to be the A3, A4, A6 and A8. Now we have plans for an A3 4-door coupe? It boggles the mind.

That will be a really fun car to drive with with the S3 engine:cool:

whereas BMW and Mercedes are splurging on a plethora of different and quasi unique niche models, audi is set on providing the same set of variants in 4 successive sizes.
which of the two directions is correct in these times has yet to be proven, but i fail to see the necessity of having 4 sizes of every model.

    Wholeheartedly agree with you there.

Well that is neither here nor there, but if Huck is right...this thing is hot. Now this is an A3 that would sell here in the U.S.

It's an A3 not an A4. I just don't get their logic behind this. I've already said how i feel about BMW's portfolio regarding unnecessary cars like the X6, but I guess AUDI is following in their direction of the "Hey let's make every F__king variant we can think of."

Yeah corrected my post, meant A3. A4 does sell.

With an A3 sized car, hard to believe how they can make a 4 door coupe out of it... a Sedan maybe, but i guess 4 door coupe, in today's sense after the CLS, is described as CLS shaped or something that is ultra sleek, ultra low roofline, not something I can imagine with the A3.

Audi A3: Sedan in the works!

The new generation of the Audi A3 will come on the market next year and apparently it will feature a new version - the Audi A3 Sedan. The carmaker said the Audi A3 Sedan is in the works and that it will be unveiled after the usual body style versions will be revealed at the end of 2010.

As far as the design of the Audi A3 Sedan goes, it looks like it will follow the lines of the Audi A7 Sportback Concept unveiled at the 2009 Detroit auto show.

Ingolstadt officials also confirmed that the Audi A1 and the Q3 will be launched after the A3 Sedan.

Wouldn't this essentially just be a Jetta with an Audi badge and a slight facelift?

    Probably a "Jetta CC"?

I'm guessing so, or something like that.
