Audi Q5 to Debut at Beijing Motor Show?
Getting Seven-Speed DSG

Audi Q5 dominated the headlines over a month ago when several so-called ‘first images’ of the five-seater SUV found their way through various websites online. It was initially reported to make its world debut at Geneva, but this speculation was quashed when Audi announced its Q7 V12 TDI sometime later instead. After a month of silence, rumours over the debut of the Q5 are now surfacing again.

Autoweek reports that the Q5 will be unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show next month, packed with Audi's new seven-speed DSG/S-Tronic. It will be based on Audi’s MLP platform (which apparently will also underpin Porsche’s upcoming five-seater SUV), with a longitudinally placed engine. The new gearbox can handle up to 405 lb-ft of torque and 8,500 rpm of engine revs; and will initially appear in future Quattro models as well as in the new A4, and subsequently in all front-wheel-drive models.

Makes sense. Audi sales are strong in China and I believe they have a plant there as well(?). The Q5 is long over due

Damn I missed this completely. :t-banghea Where are the photos gone?

The Q5 promises to be the best looking of the small luxury utes. We know it will have a great interior, but hopefully not a shrunken Q7 look outside.

The one I posted is OK. Although you might have pop-up blocker enabled.
In that case just click on "Start Q5 Special Site", and the site of which URL you posted opens. :usa7uh:

With Audi’s Q7 proving to be too expensive for the North American market officials are keen to release the mid-level Q5 to help spur sales in the world’s biggest car market. According to a leaked product schedule the new Q5 won’t officially go on sale until July but the car is expected to make its world debut next month at the Beijing Motor Show.

The new Q5 soft-roader is set to go head-to-head with BMW’s X3 as well as Mercedes’ upcoming GLK-Class and will be promoted as a sporty alternative to its rivals. This latest rendering of the car shows that it picks up many of the design cues from last year’s Cross Cabriolet quattro concept, which starred at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

Early estimates put the price of the new SUV between €35,000 to €50,000, which will likely rule out aluminum construction. The vehicle will also miss out on third-row seating, however storage space will be close to 500L. Engine options will include a 350hp 4.2L V8 with 440Nm on tap, as well as a 3.2L V6 with 265hp. The entry-level model will come with a smaller 210hp 2.0L TFSI motor.

Audi Q5: Official Image or Photoshop?

audi55.webp

Hard to tell if it is a PS or a real photo.

Hmm, the interior has a weird-looking left-side front seat. And there's also mud on the windscreen. You can actually see the marks left by the wipers movement...

:D

Damn it looks pretty real, the only thing that makes me want to say it could be a photoshop is when you look at the front seat in the picture, it just looks like a black rectangle...

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
