That's an admirable and diverse line-up. Do you use all of them to race fellow RC enthusiasts on quiet Sunday mornings?

Can you take some photos of the places you race them on, I would like to see how tough the environment are over at UAE.

The Baja is a beast, here is a photo of my friend's Baja, stock standard.

It is very very loud, and pretty scary to control.

My erevo is holding up pretty well, Traxxas cars seems to be generally tough, perhaps the Slash you got isn't as bad as expected? Btw just want to ask why you chose the Slash over the 1/10 erevo?

Sorry monster just came back from our RC place. Actually It is one of dubai's abandoned projects. Beach + illuminated tarmac and some small dunes. Usally we play on road only for the time being since the weather is not RC friendly now. My baja & flux are holding up very nicely. I Didn't dare to take my new slash since I know for granted it will not take the weather nicely and plastic parts will melt immediately (if not a smoked motor also :D). The reason is simple , overheating. My flux chipped one spur gear already and it is a tough metal (tired to drill it once for my friends brushless E savage project but wasn't successful due to the material structure, so we had to heat it to the almost melting point) so it is really a tough metal.

BTW I love the looks of a pure baja , very clean and I enjoy it. I have a dream of making a shelf queen but that too pricy for me at the moment. Maybe when I am done with bashing, I will convert mine to shelf queen.

regarding baja control, it is really scary. Last week I accidentally stepped over my left foot and it still hurts :D ... today my friend hit me by mistake with his flux .. believe me you dont want to see how it ended.

Our usual bashing environmet is the Sahara, but now a days (summer), our cars will not hold the weather, neither our bodies. Its damn 50+ now a days ...

I have no plans for my slash really but I might leave it for the time being ... or sell it for anyone interested. Its not common here, few here and there. PPL seem to like the Rustler more ...

Why are your cars so clean? They should be extremely dirty. :D
I still have my original Savage kicking around somewhere as well as my 8-cell RS4-MT just haven't had the time or money to replace the 8-cell pack as it was overcharged and doesn't give the same voltage anymore. That and the cost of nitro being about as much as a decent bottle of rum or a case of beer I'll stick with the alcohol...The hobby is too expensive at the moment for me. :D

lol you didn't see the cars 1 week before taking these photos ... believe me they looked like sh** ... lol I always start cleaning the next day after bashing. The Savage had beach sand which is a pain to clean. Baja easier to clean due to the aluminium hop ups. Except few places it need smaller brush and air pressure.

You are right, hobby is expensive. And I kinda can't stop my self now, few days ago I was calculating how much I spent so far, it got scary and I stopped lol, so I thought this is it no more for this month. Then I saw a video of the OBR engine and couldn't resist not to hit "add to cart button" lol.

So I walked into the garage the other day and decided to take pictures haven't really used any of them in quite a while. Just realized the Savage has a punctured fuel tank as well...My phone reduced the quality when I uploaded to the site so sorry for the bluryness.

Upgrades for the Savage are (off the top of my head):
    - Adjustable upper A-arms
    - Venom Racing onboard temperature meter
    - RB aluminum pipe
    - Motor Saver airfilter
    - Hitech high torque steering servo
    - Front / back center CV shafts

    Upgrades for the RS4:
    - Robinson racing machined belt pully
    - Titanium turnbuckles
    - Carbon fiber top chassis brace
    - MIP shiny CVDs (best upgrade ever)
    - Hardened steel output yolks
    - Kevlar coated rear belt
    - Chameleon 2 brushed motor (great torque!)
    - Proline rubber
    - Nimh 3300+ mah matched 8-cell (not shown, they are no good anymore)

I think this thread has become the unofficial r/c car thread.

Anyway, my Traxxas e revo vxl went up in flames today, it was the esc which short circuited and a mass amount of smoke and a small flame broke out. I was running 3s lipo in parallel, which the esc is designed to handle.

Luckily I managed to remove both batteries in time, other wise they will explode and things won't be pretty. One of the battery is damaged, it has slightly swollen in size. Can't use that anymore.

Needless to say I am massively annoyed and kinda sad, 2 more days and I would have had this revo for a year, but it just didn't make it. Fixing it won't be cheap, a new esc, possibly a new motor and definitely new batteries will cost a bit of $. Don't think I have any other choice.

3S in parallel you mean = 6s ? That is insane in a 1/16 VXL !!! even a 3S is insane. My Slash barely handles the 2S.

BTW what caused the fire ? over heated ESC ? BTW I never used 3S batteries I only use 2S and 4S (never 6S also). I don't know I got scared lol.

Hey bro, sorry to hear that your ESC is gone. My friend ordered one for his mamba 2200 and it was defective. Imagine the dissappointment man.

If you need help till me. Plus, what motor/esc are you running in the vxl ?
  12. Monster Global Moderator

If you connect 3S in series it will become 6S, the voltage will double and that would melt the esc for sure, but since I connect the two batteries in parallel the esc will receive the same voltage as having 1 battery connected to the circuit but the capacity of the battery will be doubled.

I have the stock Traxxas E-revo Velineon VXL-3m ESC, which is designed to handle up to 3S batteries, and I have been running them for almost a year. 2S is enough for most of the time, especially on dirt track, the car is pretty crazy fast on 3S, the tires balloon too much, it makes it very very difficult to accelerate from a corner without spinning or losing control.

I used to run the stock Velineon 380 motor but I switched to HXT 2835 (380S) 3900kv Brushless Inrunner HobbyKing Online R/C Hobby Store : HXT 2835 (380S) 3900kv Brushless Inrunner

because it runs cooler and it is more compact than the stock motor and it is just as fast.

I am thinking of buying the slash 4x4, it looks a lot easier to disassemble and work on than the e revo, so far I am quite happy with Traxxas, besides the issue with the esc, my revo has been very tough. What sort of issues do you have with your slash so far?

Ok bro, I take back what I said about the Slash 4x4, it is absolutely brutal. No doubt. Plastic gears mislead me but the car is tough to beat. the optional gear where you can achieve 60+mph is not recommended without the enhanced cooling (stock esc has no fan). So a fan is an easy fix. The car is plenty fast. But I don't want to touch it now (mods wise) until I get bored from the power.

here is a little video indoors :D sorry for the upright shooting I didn't know iPhone is that dumb :D

Edit: I installed one of the strongest engines on the baja (non reed) OBR Full mod 27.2. the engine didn't survive after the break in and it was hell fast to control. It was massive but there goes a new head kit .. now I am back on the CY 29 ported which surprizingly got jelous and is much much torquier now ..I will try to take a footage tonight.

Isn't there a 1-year warranty on Traxxas electronics I would call them up like now so at the very least get a discount on a replacement ESC..
  15. Sayyaaf is Just a member

You guys are lucky to get a full year warranty. We get nothing here

Nice collection you got up there! Those things are mad fun. Everytime I go to Pep-Boys, I take a good time to examen Traxxas products there!

Thanks Ateek. I bashed hard last time. The baja is now having a bent exhaust. I don't know whether to fix it or change it.

Nice collection! Would love to have this as a hobby but I don't have the time nor the money.. BTW, do you tank these things through a canister?

thanx man. start saving there are deals everywhere now. for 200$ you can have many cars that can put a smile on your face. modding is expensive for gas/nitro cars but electric brushless are affordable. its quite a stress relief during spare time. I enjoy fixing them as much as I do bashing.

sorry friend i didnt get your question, do you mean fueling my car ?

EDIT: Yesterday I ordered new exhaust for the baja, 2 speed gearing system and and new front bumper.

    VRC pipe

    2 speed.

An update on my Erevo vxl, I bought a new esc and motor for it today, hopefully the poor thing will come back to life in a week or 2.

Don't think so, not in over seas market anyway. Traxxas offers a 30 day warranty period but after that they will repair or replace the damaged unit, I am not sure about the cost for people living outside of the US but the shipping cost from Australia to the US alone won't be cheap.
Check the link here Traxxas Support FAQ - [FAQ] What can I do if one of my electronic components needs to be repaired but it is no longer covered under warranty?

Get a Traxxas e revo or slash, I highly recommend it, you won't regret getting one.
