Well I admit the chop is nice but being based on the B-Class platform is my concern. A transversal mounted engine means limited capacity and questionable handling/weight distribution. Time will tell.

Looks good. A price around 25k would make it a hit.

Perhaps it will be based on 2nd generation B-class. :t-hands:
Which is said to be RWD ... A coupe, a cabrio, a van, and an SUV.
Rivaling BMW 1er family, and Audi A3/Q3 family.

Regarding the CGI ... it's just a current B-class with "allroad package" & slightly different headlights & hood. I guess it has nothing to do with the real BLK(?) / MLK (?).

I don't think it is technically possible to base it on the current B-Class. The sandwich platform means the centre of gravity is very high, so as the sitting position. Put higher suspension on it and you will roll-over at every corner and needs a scale to go into your car.

The suspensions are already quite firm and with a very short course to keep it from too much body-roll.

Furthermore, as the motor/gearbox/motor accessories are already partly under the car, I don't know how they could find the place to put the AWD-transmission...

This could only be possible with the next B-Class, which won't have this sandwich platform (but will still be FWD according to what I read here and there because they finally decided not to base it on the C-Class platform).

    :D

Yeah, 'cause MB is whoring the brand lately with all the SUVs, vans & crossovers (ML, GL, GLK, R-class, A-class, B-class, BLK / MLK).

That actually looks pretty good. If they pull through with this, it better look like that! :D

But I think the question needs to be asked: Who needs a "B-Class 4Matic"?

I think this might sell well in scandinavia.
Oh btw, it looks pretty good.

That's a nice chop but since Mercedes is still looking for a partner for the next A/B class platform i guess we are many years away from seeing this car in the streets..

    Exactly!!!

Dieter has already stated Mercedes will concentrate on premium saloons and not SUV type vehicles. The B-class range to rival the 1-series range is a necessity and was an extremely stupid oversight by MB in the first place.

2012 Mercedes-Benz GLA: New Compact SUV

Autozeitung on the cover of its August issue, features a rendering of the newcoming Mercedes-Benz GLA, that small SUV is to arrive in 2011.
This information is based on announcement back in June from the German carmaker that it will replace the current A and B-Class with four distinct compact-sized models.
Having said that, a small SUV seems very reasonable especially since Audi and BMW are readying the Q3 and X1 compact-sized SUV's respectively.
