IMO the V12 TT's time (going forward+model changeover) is not over yet:t-cheers:

Even the next 7er will have a V12 TT (Because the engine is shared with Rolls-Royce). And in this case M-B (+the Maybach being cancelled case) will use a V12 TT in it's future lineup.

Al three German Premium Brands has enough low CO2 / low mileage engines in their arsenal to keep their CO2 average in check to offer a V12.

The new V12's will be way more economical anyway.
Saying they do not care 'cause they already have loads of CO2/low mileage engines might save their a**es right now, but in 2020 they will be screwed.
It will be MORE ECONOMICAL, believe me!

    Interview: Guido Brormann of AMG

this article is just 2-months old!-->> Interview: Guido Brormann of AMG « Car Magazine Blog

AMG might not be finished with the current porduction of the V12 just yet.

Thay have made it quit clear thay will produce another version of the M157 Bi-Turbo V8 good for 700ps/ 885lb-ft. I believe thay will bump the displacement to 6.0liters
for this new one. A V8 because this is the roots of AMG (the V12 is not) 700hp because AMG claimes to have had the "worlds fastest sedan" back in 1967-69. This will continue with the next top of the line AMG S-Class.

I don't think a V8 can replace V12 in terms of smoothness and noise (on both extremes.. quietness or when pushed really hard)

    O yes, indeed!

Technology developed for future cutting-edge V8 and V12 engines will make tomorrow’s engines cleaner and more efficient, indeed.

Engine designers have developed a new ‘breathing’ system (in various complicated manners) for the engine that releases more power and torque from the engine, in turn making it more efficient i.e Turbocharging and also cylinder cut-off systems, better engine management systems, lighter alloys etc.etc.

Therefore, it uses less fuel and cuts emissions. i.e. Super Car manufacturers and the German engine makers are constantly rolling out new tech to make their larger capacity engines more fuel efficient and newer tech is always just around the corner. I hope that lighter engines with marvelous tech will do away with the Hybrid sh!t ;)

Somehow the tech for next generation of engines is already here.
Electric cars are already good enough for daily use, works extremely well on super cars as well (SLS E-cell)
If they mass produce electric cars people will love them. No one will buy cars with gasoline engines.

For car manufacturers, they don't mind selling something that will sell well.
They did all kind of research and development, but no results that people can hear of.

    Because,
Petroleum companies are not letting this happen (what do they sell then?).
Governments are not letting this happen (Petrol makes 99% of Emirates' international trade. Petrol price is a very important political tool for US. just to name a few reason).

My view is, coming 10-20 years you will hear a lot of interesting tech that makes gasoline engines more efficient.
avg 30mpg -> 40mpg or so. But still we are losing more than 50% of the potential energy in gas.
And you will not hear about true, major electric car development.

    Agree

Back to the 2014 S-Class. I`m looking through my crystal ball about the new S and something tells me it will have an all aluminum structure.
