    I do have to honour to start this thread, sadly, only for posting the very first CGI about the new S-Class, featuring organic shapes again.

    I post on the car forum carspyshots.com and there is a supercars insider that has a few clues about the upcomming MB design. Stating with the new CLS, the design won´t be s hard and squared as on the new E-Class, but softer, with new shoulder lines and with agressive front ends. Acording to this insider info, the new S-Class will feature a similar face to the next CLS, with the headlights remaining the shape they´ve been featuring along all the S-Class generations, but this time being smaller and slimmer, entirirely LED, perhaps.

    Anyway, I´m expecting to see Huck´s CGI about this new S-Class.

    Lol so here we go again..i expect this to be the longest thread in gcf history:D

    And i expect the new S class to take a radical step form the existing..
    The design lingo has done its 2 generations now..:D

    PS
    Are we sure that it will be called W222 ??

    I have no clue about its internal designation, however, I´m very very interested on its development, Mercedes launched the W221 in a very tumultuous period, and because of that we saw that rare rear lights, and the same interior design as on the E65 7er, wich is far from my tastes.

    As I´ve said, I would expect the next S-Class to be more refined, not as tank as the W221, with more fluid lines, and not that bland.

    Like i always say..only a S can beat a S.. ;)

    New S will probably have cost savings imposed

    On the development..

    One option I have heard regarding rumours is producing the S-klasse and then a Super S-Klasse to replace the Maybach but have it badged as a Mercedes-Benz which is what they should have done in the beginning.
    The Mercedes-Benz Star has the same cachet as either Rolls-Royce and Bentley much more than a resurrected brand no one knows of until they investigate.

    As you are a BMW insider you probably won´t know anything about this car, but Has BMW any type of info about its development? Where is its design pointing?.

    Sounds like a swell idea to me. Resurrecting a brand with no familiarity but with only a precious few was never a good idea on MB's part, but again that's when they were under seemingly incompetent leadership. Expecting sound decision making from such a group of individuals would be foolish to expect. Perhaps it will be a Pullman for the masses?

    Hey it still feels to me the w221 has just been launched.I have a feeling the next gen S will be more a evolution of the current car with a larger grill and some interior changes.i am shure their will be some great technology and great comfort..Good luck MB

    SKYSONY and The Artist, yes, I think that's correct. That designation was also mentioned by car "guru" Georg Kacher the other day.

    W222 = short wheelbase version
    V222 = long wheelbase version

    Today, one possibly interesting supplier was announced, Manz Automation AG. They make robots working in clean rooms, like for battery assembly. Mercedes is forecasting a demand for 40,000 batteries in 2012, according to the Manz press release, some of which might be destined for the W222/V222 program.

    The Mercedes star has as much catchet as a Rolls...wow...can't believe I'm reading this from BMW CM. Anyway I will not worry or really participate in this thread for another 2 years...I'm not going through this again with the W222.

    Oh dear. This is going to be one long release and I can bet you that Mercedes will release a million teasers until then. It's time to book mark this thread. :D

    I like that CGI ... actually I love it.

    I think I see the F700's profile and grill.

    So with this new S we're getting Pre-Scan, COMAND IV, all the goodies from the ESF Concept, and maybe a new tranny?

    I'm interested in car-to-car communication. I was watching a documentary on the tech and how it'll help prevent accidents, provide traffic info...etc. Thing is, how are older cars supposed to communicate with newer cars with this tech?

    BTW, this thread should be merged with the other thread with an S-Class mule testing Pre-Scan.

    No. This thread should be closed immediately....lol. It is far too early for this.

    Same, and I second that there are traces of F700 in the CGI drafted up by AZ. An electric S-class? Sounds like a foreign diplomats exec saloon of choice.

    You should know better than most that it is never too early to take shots at an upcoming model change, particularly a Mercedes! As a matter of fact, I am pleased to be on the first page of this thread and say that even without seeing the W222, I already don't like it. Not only shouldn't this thread be closed, but it actually needs to be imortalized as a new GCF category, "Premature Sticky". Let the games begin !

    Since this will be an epic thread, I might as well poke my head in here too. LOL

    While that CGI looks good, I think it's just WAY too far away to be making any educated guesses. Hell, we haven't even heard of the chassis being in development yet.
