I like this car a lot ....but I still wonder if it is the right strategy for this market segment. Rolls-Royce owners and potential buyers have expressed no desire for more powerful engines. In fact, the 100EX concept first shown in 2004 had a 9.0-liter V-16 -- but Rolls-Royce customers said they didn't require anything bigger than the Phantom's 6.8-liter V-12 -- so the Phantom DHC has the standard engine (and a shorter hood than the 100EX concept). This market wants style and prestige ....they really don't care if their limousine is not as fast as a Ferrari.
This is true. If there is another Maybach they need a stunning, but unique look to go along with all the build quality, technology and performance. M
Beautiful and stunning! I have always loved the look of a Maybach, it seems to have a single, sleek form to it (especially with that two-tone color scheme). Interior, I think, isn't bad at all (I've always loved the W220 S-Class anyways), even when compared to RR or Bentley. And that sunroof: :icondrool
The back seat is what makes this vehicle, the rest of the car needs badly to catch up. As for the practical side of this car serving royalty, statesmen and high businessmen... at least for the latter, where are there going to be these situations when executives get to spend that much time inside a car to enjoy it fully? Especially in the US, the car is merely a shuttle between home, office and the airport, something the back seat of an S550 more than takes care of.
Rappers Kanye West and Jay-Z desecrate Maybach in new 'Otis' music video http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=BoEKWtgJQAU
hmmm. it is almost as if Daimler knows the brand is dead. and they are just saying F*** It! This and the fact that Vacuous plastic show-offs The Kardashians only want Maybach Landaulets for their wedding transport because they want to be seen. What is it the English say? "They think it is all over?... It is now."
Did Daimler have a hand in it??? Maybach needs some work.... Jay Z, Kanye West have Maybach solution: a saw and a torch Daimler may not know what to do with near-dead Maybach, but Jay Z and Kanye West have an idea. Their Maybach makeover starts with a body-shop saw and welding torch and adds a full load of attitude and a bevy of beauties to spruce up the formerly funereal interior. The hip-hop moguls turned the mega-Benz saloon into this open-air buggy for the video for "Otis," the single off their new Watch the Throne. Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche, who's said the company will have a plan to fix (or kill) Maybach in the next few weeks, should find the video inspiring. Forget partnering with Aston Martin to create a new model -- how about Jay Z and West. While the lyrics mention Benz and Bentley -- as well as private jets -- the Maybach is the star of this one. Enough so to even wonder whether Daimler had a hand in it. USA Today - Chris Woodyard: "Jay Z, Kanye West have Maybach solution: a saw and a torch" :t-cheers:
another recent Maybach 'event' Mentiras… My life as a mountain peak of lies. The work of Julian Schnabel is on display in the Correr in St Marks square for the opening of the Venice Biennale. Julian floats in the Grand Canal on a barge and paints his white bullet-riddled Maybach car with the names of women in his life in red nail polish. Bold among them is the name of his daughter Lola and the name Barbara. The gifted and serious Vahakn Arslanian sketched childlike weapons that adorn the windows. Check out some of Vahakn’s inspired work with shattered aircraft windows. Mentiras :t-cheers:
I am not in a good position to say this, as I'm not the one with a Maybach, but it is seriously disturbing to see such cars written on and destroyed. Couldn't they make their point equally clear with, say, an old SL or M3 or something else?
When I sleep I always dream but it's really rare to dream about cars. It happened with M3, Golf V, Lexus IS-F and some others not that interesting. But my little "dirty secret" is the Maybach. Probably I'm one in a million but I'm in love with this car since day one and I cannot stop loving it. I love EVERYTHING about it! I like it 100 times more than the Rolls and 100000 times more that anything else. It's the PERFECT car for me if we are talking about lux and "straight to the point" presence. I simply love it and it's a dream I'm scared of achieving because what else I should dream for after buying this jewel ?? I LOVE MAYBACH (57s please)

Daimler had a hand in it. Jay-Z has prominently featured Mercs and Maybachs in his videos for over a decade. He's endorsed by Daimler. This week Maybach launched their facebook page in an effort to get down with the kids, so it seems like the brand is not going to be killed off any time soon.
Jay Z has been like the spokesman for Maybach since it came out. He can't seem to get enough of that thing. Frankly, Rappers are the only thing keeping Maybach relevant at all it seems. Not a good thing if it's only coming from that direction, as in order to achieve a good Luxury-Car-Cache balance, you need to have the respect coming in from quite a few different demographics (old money, new money, kids, old mature people, urban culture, non-urban culture, etc.), think RR, or M-B for that matter (who've got it right).
I think Daimler had something to do with this..the car in the video has german plates.. ( i wonder if the video is shot in germany) And by the end of the video there is a text saying: The vehicle used in this visual will be offered up for auction. Proceeds will be donated towards the east african drought disaster.
