Speechless +1! Absolutely stunning, those official pictures were absolutely horrible. This car is unreal nice. I thought it was LB, but Betty says Monte Carlo, will this color be standard or special order, because I love it. Not liking the beige interior but that can be fixed, black leather would be much better. I'm in lust.:bowdown:
I'll have to see how far along the order is, but I just checked my online order and the car has not entered production so I will have to speak to my dealer but that could be 7-10 days so the car could enter production by then, in which case I highly doubt I could change my order. That and there is no conformation of the competition package making it to Australia shores. So in summary, I think we can safely say I just got a little excited!
Well, most CP options are available as a retrofit on a regular M3.. But I'm not going to try to change your mind, LOL. A 335i would be more than enough to keep me awake until the day it would arrive, hahaha!
I'm going to Geneva next week, but if that looks as good in the flesh as it does in the pictures then I'm seriously considering another M3 to replace my current one. Still waiting on details of the F10 M5 but I just can't get excited about that as I can about this.
Because it doesn't actually exist? In two months it will be announced that the M3 GTS has been cancelled and was never actually intended for production. The photos were purely what a theoretical M3 GTS would look like, IF BMW decided to build one. These pictures proved once and for all that BMW is capable of imagining a car like an M3 GTS and is therefore at the forefront of performance technology. This project has not been a waste though as it allowed BMW to investigate new paint technology and the inca orange colour will be available on every BMW model in the range, as long as it's the 1 series.
^ you did see the promo video of the GTS, right? They definitely did make it. I'm aware you are disappointed with the no show of the M1 but dont despair. Probably had some kind of a hiccup but that GTS is definitely coming. On another note, I really wish BMW would give a chance to the abundant breed of aspiring automotive photographers (e.g ScottChu, Wynn Rujario, etc) an opportunity to do the press release pics instead of the same hopless bunch who do the pics at the moment. The M3 CS looks terribly bland in the official press release pics.
It s not stunning at all. It s an M3 facelift with some carbon bits on it which you can order thru any dealer including the wheels. i think you can better respray the car and add all the competition bits. Its cheaper then take the depreciation of youre M3.
Not without a chassis number indicating the car was built with the option of the Competition Package, although you might find someone able to skirt the system.
It IS stunning, but for the rest I agree for sure. The whole pack is available as a retrofit on existing M3, and as Dunkel nicely put it, one can almost order it by mail on a CD....
Do you know this Klier, or are you just assuming you can? As far as I am aware, in the past you could only order retrofit items if you can prove they are for a chassis number which had the competition pack in the first place. BMW do this so they can protect revenue. Why would somebody order a new M3 with the competition pack if you could just go in to a dealer and fit the extras yourself. BMW did this with the CSL and they did it with the M3 Edition parts (although some got through). So, I ask again Klier. Do you know this for sure? Except for the front splitters, rear spoiler, lowered suspension. Oh, and the wheels.
I'm not sure about every tiny detail, but the press release states that the rear spoiler and front apron flaps in carbon will be available from spring 2010 as a retrofit option. The wheels obviously too, and the 10 mm lower suspension too, since you can simply tell your dealer to do so. For the rest I think it's just some software changes??? So basicly, I think the only thing you can't get is the new auto Start Stop system for the M3.... Thanks for stating the obvious
If it's obvious why do you perpetuate this ludicrous notion that you could almost order the ZCP on CD? It's only the remapped EDC and DSC that are electronic updates. What about all those items that I listed?
