A BMW supercar is never going to happen. Stop getting your hopes up.

Exactly, at least not in the conventional sense.

    I don't want a supercar - I want an 1M Coupe successor - and please soon :)

^ The 1M isn't even in it's grave and your demanding it's replacement.

The consensus with the 1er M Coupe replacement within BMW is "Lets do it again but with more resources" The BMW 1er M Coupe was a very highly succesful concept for M. It sold and was enthusiastically well received by customers and the auto media.
The basic car itself will be a repeat of the first 1er M Coupe. Minimal and accessible. But there will be time for further progression and to enhance the options available.

The M135i is thought of as a performance hatch something BMW has always lacked in its potfolio. In 1995 they did come to close to producing an M3 Compact. The M135i will be joined with an M235i in Coupe and Cabrio and also the X1 Sport Activity Vehicle.

The transition to the 2er means not only will BMW M. Offer another M version. It can do so without treading on the 1er M Coupe. With the "2"not only being the designated body but also symbolic as the 2nd chapter for the entry M. model.

BMW of course are enthused with Dr. Kay Segler's overview with the 1er M Coupe that now he is at MINI he is creating the M. brand for MINI which aims to take the cars above the JCW in terms of handling , dynamics and performance. The first will be a MINI Cooper S JCW GP - A current version of the 2005 limited edition MINI which sold out and stood out above the other MINI's in terms of dynamics and performance.
MINI's JCW was actually the template for BMW M Performance Automobiles.

Does the "performance hatch" come with and LSD? And the Mini GP also comes with an LSD?

Not exactly. I just think that we should see the sucessor latest in 2014, when 1M Coupe already ends in 2012. But to repeat myself here: I somehow suspect that ///M doesn't see it this way and keeps us in suspense till 2015 or the like :)

    But as Scott says:

F22/2er will be introduced sometimes in 2013 - M235i right from the start? I suspect it. So most probably M235i in 2014.. so, you tell me how likely is it, that the true M2 is also coming in 2014?
And this is my concern: 1M ends in 2012 M2 coming in 2015, bad idea :(

We were not talking about any supercar, but about the 1 Series M Coupé replacement.
