^Don't worry I am sure there will be one just a there will be an X4 4 door coupé, 2 door coupé and 2 door convertible.
Obscene but not surprising. Like I mentioned in the Porsche Macan thread, Land Rover and Porsche are using these oversized hatchbacks to target the 3/A4/C-Class segment, hence the three and five door configurations. Given how much the Evoque is a status symbol, a convertible SUV will be the height of conspicuous consumption. In California this convertible would for a popular model.
Actually BMW see more potential in their proposed "Y" Konzept which undergoes further development . "Y"of course stands for the middle in between "X" and "Z" which mates the look of a "Z" model with the technology and raised look of an "X" Think the BMW X Coupe Concept with either a sliding roof or removable panel. BMW have tried to take the roof of an X1 and X3 and were not happy with the end result. So that is why they reckon if it has to be interesting and appealing it has to be something fresh and eye-catching not just an SAV with the roof off. I am surprised that this was deemed as a potential variant , especially after they went out to deny that an Evoque cabrio would be an option for the future as far as the IAA in September when industry chit-chat occurrs on press day between rivals and competitors. But given a recent trip to London revealed a badly parked Louis Vuitton wrapped RR Sport with Bling encrusted 22"wheels ( Which you or any kind of sane person would not do) to which my London guide advised me was the "Bad Taste wheels of a English footballers wife" or as he nicely put it "A mobile kennel for a dog" then eventually in a bad taste kind of way an Evoque Cabrio will have its customer.
Yuck, gross, annoying to even look at. This Cute-SUV-Convertible thing they're trying to make a fad, hopefully doesn't make it much further than that hideous Nissan thing that nobody bought (fortunately people still have some taste ).
Fugly. They have managed to screw a great looking product up. It looked horrible when Nissan did it & still seems a lame idea! :eusa_doh:
It's a really stupid idea, but having sat in a Nissan Murano Cabrio at a dealer, there trully is a nice vast, open feeling in a convertible SUV. Probably rivaled only by the Rolls-Royce Drophead.
The only unappealing aspect is the borderline square foot print and rounded corners make it look as a mobile jacuzzi on wheels.
