There was no need to launch the car in Geneva, for people being able to buy it the day after it ends or something.
BMW M1 Concept would have been enough. No need for months planning there. Just a teaser bodyshell with no engine or even interior, with blacked out windows, 20k worth of paint and sick rims/brakes...

Well, maybe somebody should have told Scott? He was clearly inferring it would be there in the numerous quotes I've posted. Unless Scott doesn't have the insight he would like us to believe? :)

In the link in the first post you can see there is a red Z4 35is, X5 facelift in brown, an X6 with performance parts, 330d E92 FL......and an awful lot of white, boring cars with "Efficient Dynamics" written down the side. I haven't seen which M cars are there yet.

^ I should've just clicked the link then ;) lol, I was too busy with that crazy 3 electric engine Porsche monster  Intelligent Performance, I might have to change my sig o_O

There are lots of guys from usa which have planned a trip to Geneva specially for the M1 because scott has pointed in the direction of the M1 being there.

I don t find it ok to point out such things if youre not 100% certain. Marketing or not. It s not ok.

Where is Scott anyways? He hasn't showed up since this debacle....

It would be nice to read an explanation. And not one about the BMW board members driving the M1 and deciding last minute before the show they are not going to present the car there...
    That's a story I am not buying.
  6. Betty Swollocks Well-Known Member

    Would you?

I don't think we should be too hard on Scott though. Remember the last time somebody dare criticise him? He threatened to take his bat and ball home. :)

I don't buy it either. And if it is real then what a pathetic excuse. Nobody was expecting anything other than a blacked out mule. Just the exterior body in chrome shadow. Like the E46 M3 and E60 M5 concepts.

I suspect the real reason was that they wanted to hold something back to premier at another motor show. Maybe New York in May. Or they didn't want to overshadow the more mundane F10.

"lots of guys" should think twice before making major plans becuase of comments made on a forum.

Not loving the stance. Why make it look like it is heavily loaded in the rear?

The truth and marketing goes along like water and oil...

That was always my problem with E92 and I think it is cause of the character line curving downwards at the rear and a relatively low bootline. M3 doesn't have the same problem at least as much, probably cause of the wing.

M3 with competition package is there!

Looks like LeMans blue and it's a looker for sure!

On germancarforum.com, maybe someone could add it to this thread if it hasn't already been done.

It's Monte Carlo Blue, and it looks absolutely fantastic in the photos. I can't wait to see it in the flesh next week.

    OMG, that's so hot :icondrool

And it's also obvious now that the M3 did NOT get the LED rings. Sad :(

Stunning M3...does the U.S. get this??

Order restored. Audi RS5 no longer does it for me compared to this iteration of the M3. Now the RS5 needs to regain traction with its handling and dynamics if it is to be a real contender for an M3 killer - has there ever been a true M3 killer?

The way of presentation reminds me of the M3 Concept back in 2007. So much attention for an M3 ZCP? :eusa_thin

Does this M3 has better brakes?
    Is it lighter?
Can you order race style seats?
  18. martinbo Global Moderator / Editor

No. BMW explicitly wants you to buy a 911 GT3 RS.

You have clearly mastered the M3 CSL, AdvEvo, (man, you really can drive) and clearly you need to put your skills toward a bigger challenge: mastering a car with an engine in the wrong place.

    :) ;) :D

There my race-tracking, speed-freakin brother... I've just helped you with your decision.

    LOL

Martinbo here is new movie just for you my 130i racecar. :)

    YouTube - Assen 130i onboard pip.mp4

    Now the aspect porsche.

I watch everyday the secondhand market GT3. But everyday i find a reason not to buy one.

For instance. The csl is best example of the best compromise ever made. It s the perfect car for me. I can drive it everywhere and with that colour and normal shaped car you don t stand out of the crowd. Also it s no eyecatcher for the police either.

With a GT3 is all so different. The car is so limited in use. If i would live near the Nring there is no other car. I did a race once in 997 GT3 cup. Never driven one before but i was 6 tenth of the pace of one the fastest dutch GT3 drivers. I get used to a car very fast so i don t care were the engine is.

I do care for a car which i buy privatly that i can use more than only on track. And i like a stealty look very much.

Bmw just have to re read there build plan of the E46 CSL and make it in a new jacket (1 serie coupe) Also a GTS is overdone and to much and to heavy at 1490kg. The colour is nice for on track but for daily it s a no go. Also a rear cage is nice but not neccesary. The CSL is the perfect car for me except brakes but they are upgrade to 6pot brembo s. It will stay a long time. M1 CSL would made me to go sell the E46 CSL.

But it itches everytime i see a GT3. And everytime i get more annoyed about bmw ///M which makes nothing emotional like the CSL was. Maybe if they get me even more annoyed i buy me a GT3. And forget the brand bmw.

Nee, maar dit is nou uiters netjies en vinnig! [I don't know Dutch so you'll have to excuse the Afrikaans.]

Very nice Andre, it's nice to know where AdvEvo comes from. :)

I like the way you drifted the corner complex at 1:38 - showboater! ;) 130i's a lovely car - seems to turn in very tidily, especially on a trailing throttle.

Anyhoo, waaay OT but here's hoping that the M Division hear your calls for an M1 CSL. I just hope the turbo engine doesn't go into limp mode halfway through a big oversteer moment.

Fact of the matter remains, no M1 at Geneva despite the tease. But heck, as road cars go that new M3 Competition Package is my ultimate dream car.
