I know is somewhat of a rhetorical question.... However, let's say someone found some seemingly incredible bang-for-the-buck values on a RR HSE ranging from '03-'04, with let's say 70-90K Miles. Even considering the entry fee that prices it lower than a slightly Used Ford Focus, is this something that is considered "Doesn't matter how cheap, because the POS product will cost more in repairs", or is that an overblown stigma associated with the cars (doubtful, but wishful thinking in this case, I guess).
You can add the Cayenne Mk.I, E60 M5 and Quattroporte to the list. All those cars can be had for peanuts but the annual repair and maintenance costs can rack up to 10-30% of the purchase price.
Yeah, did some research, turns out it's only worth buying and "PAYING FOR DURING THE TIME OF OWNERSHIP" if one gets one for free or maybe in the single digits. Would be a great Beater DD to drive around in the City though.
My friend just got a LR4, so I don't know how relevant this may be... but he's already had to visit the shop 3 times in 2 months. And his car is new. So don't buy it...you're seriously going to regret it.
I guess if it wasn't such a broken money pit it wouldn't be such a great bang for the buck on the Used Market. Definitely passing on it.
