I think that M-B's Designers are doing too many 1970's faux-glam Cocaine Parties, these days. .... Or, too many 1960's Woodstock reminiscent Acid Parties.
You know K-A, I've friends who do heavy drugs cocktails: cocaine, lsd, mushrooms, etc, etc. And are more coherent than a "that thing". What's happening at Daimler, for God's sake?
I did not belive the authenticity of the patent but that I see it is I don't know what to think. I do not think it is to rival any Panamera or Rapid but rather BMW i8. Why? Because still being a supercar, of the future, it is the only to have 4 seat. Imagine the i8 Hybrid was an M8 Hybrid powered by the 3.3l V6 of the M4 plus the two electric engines it would make about 600 PS, and would then really be a 4 seater supercar.
Guess what!? I like it, the whole idea behind this SLS 4-door works for me. I mean why the hell not? If all other supercar manufactures can do it, Benz can do it better! Only thing is it will be ridiculously expensive...... IF it was priced to compete with the Panamera Turbo, then Porsche will close the Panamera production facility withing 48 moths
I dont know why so much hatred about this here. I like the concept of the ultra fast 4-seater. Also, I like the way MBZ is looking for new, niche markets.
Oh, lord. This could become rapers' / pimps' favorite Blingmobile / Pimpmobile if ever made. :cool-smi: Ultimate retro-looking supercar - with extra room for extra biatches. What else a man wants? LOL :laugh2: I like the idea though.
Guys, chill out. I didn't read the whole patent filing, but obviously the SLS illustration is just here as an example. Written here in the very first lines of the document. What matters here is the door concept, not the extended SLS thing. This is what the patent is about.
I'm doing fine, but totally over-worked. I have finally entered carreer-mode, but that means I don't have time for GCF any more. To my great despair. I merely follow things, but can't really intervene regularly... Had to give up the mod status and all... Don't play with Linux that much either... I'm slowly adapting to Luxembourg, to the job, and trying to become an adult at last. And you, fine? I'm a bit saddened that GCF manages to survive very well without me lol
I think this shows in the automotive industry that the balance has changed especially in favour to the BRIC Markets and the Middle East. But in conversation last year at our industry symposium the two manufacturers who sell copius amounts of these cars in those markets Audi and Mercedes-Benz have been approached in terms of offering more space in these markets so young Horatio,Sergei, Sanjeev,Yuang and Abdullah can come along for the ride. Audi's R8 replacement apparently gets two child-only seats in the back now with a rear quarter light and this patent shows that Mercedes are thinking of increasing the SLS AMG perhaps for this very reason. However I prefer if the SLS AMG remained only as a Coupe or Roadster and leave the monstrosities to the tuners. This kind of reminds me of Cruella De Ville's car from 101 Dalmations - extremely long hood and overhang with a short rear deck , it looks almost cartoonish.
When M-B and Chrysler were together, people used to say that M-B designers are spending too much time with Chrysler guys. I guess now they are depressed that the Chrysler friends are gone and resorting to drugs.
Four-Door Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Not Planned Patent drawings, which surfaced in February, showed a very special four-door version of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. New information stated by Ola Källenius, CEO of AMG, in an interview with Autovisie revealed that a four-door version of the SLS is absolutely not planned. http://www.gtspirit.com/2012/06/17/four-door-mercedes-benz-sls-amg-not-planned/ http://www.telegraaf.nl/autovisie/a...over_vierdeurs_SLS__Komt_absoluut_niet__.html
Thank god that Frankenstein mobile won't see day of light. Useless patent anyways, though I could see Mercedes use it as an application for a future model that isn't an SLS.
