Knowing and sharing the taste of EVO, I knew they would never go as high as a 3 star rating for a car like this. They enjoy the thrill of driving, after all...
ML63 AMG: 3.5 stars / 5 Cayenne GTS: 4 stars / 5 Cayenne Turbo: 4.5 stars / 5 Cayenne Turbo S: 4.5 stars / 5 Infiniti FX S: 3 stars / 5 :t-hands: Although this ratings are from UK version, while the X6 M review was published in Australian version.
Both the Turbo and the Turbo S gets better ratings than the GTS, even if the GTS surely should be the better drivers car, right? Here is why: both the former models does not try to do something that they can never dream of doing. They are, hence, very much stringent with what is expected from them. The GTS and the X6"M" are both trying to do something they can never do, therefore, low scores.
2010 BMW X6 M - Road Test - Auto Reviews - Car and Driver Even without launch control, it was easy to catapult this thing out of the hole: left foot on the brake, right foot flat on the throttle until the final yellow Christmas-tree light glows, then left foot at ease. At which point, oddly, nothing much happens. I mean, there’s no explosion, there’s no wheelspin, and the turbos take a second or two to spool up completely, after which they pretty much mute the V-8. Plus, my reaction times were legally drunk—like 0.333 to the Anglia guy’s 0.163—but it didn’t seem to matter because the first run was 13 seconds flat, at 106 mph, with seat massager and Tormé at full tilt. I should have folded the big side-view mirrors to reduce drag, but it seemed like a lot of work at the time. I might have gone quicker but, just before the tree went green, Tormé coincidentally lit into “More Than Gone,” a song that describes both my mind and the X6 M, and I was understandably distracted. No matter. We’d already obtained the official acceleration figures the night before at the Chrysler proving ground. Here’s all you need to know. If the X6 M were pitted against a Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, it would humble big bad Mr. Zuffenhausen by 0.1 second to 60 mph and by a like amount through the quarter-mile. Which makes this the quickest production SUV we’ve ever tested, a somewhat strange boast, like claiming to be the best poetry-writing drywaller in Alabama. Also, damned if the launch didn’t spill my iced tea. Default Viral Title Player
According to the article it did GingerMan raceway in 1:40, which makes it about as fast as Cayman S (1:39.65) and faster than M coupe (1:41.40).
:eusa_danc:eusa_danc:eusa_danc X6 M: the quickest SUV ever tested :eusa_danc:eusa_danc:eusa_danc True, but after driving Cayenne GTS yesterday again, I can safely say that it's a real drivers car giving a lot of fun to the driver. Now, if X6 M does the same with 150 hp more, it should be brilliant !
The local dealer has an X6 M and a X5 M on the lot, stopped by to look at them. WOW the X6 M is sheer aggression. Huged front air intakes and wheels make for an extremely good looking package. Looks as if it will eat the road, stickers for a little over 94K. M
This one is up for sale at Ebay with the price-tag of $94,875! :t-cheers: BMW : X6:eBay Motors (item 170379234612 end time Sep-08-09 13:12:48 PDT)
Edmunds - IL Track Tested: 2010 BMW X6 M When BMW introduced the idea of the SAV (Sport Activity Vehicle) with the original X5, we scoffed appropriately. Then we drove it and were shocked that the ungainly beast was not ungainly at all. Then BMW took it a bit further and rolled out the X6. It appeared even more useless, yet it, too, was a surprisingly entertaining drive. BMW didn't stop there, of course, as it rolled out Motorsport versions of both the X5 and the X6 earlier this year. There was no good reason for them to exist, but BMW went ahead and built them anyway. After testing the X6 M, we're glad BMW took the time. You see, this X6 is so fast that its odd looks, big sticker and pointless existence don't really matter. You simply have to respect it for what it can do. And we're not just talking about going fast in a straight line. It stops and turns amazingly well, too. It's a triumph of engineering over design and marketing. Just take a look at the numbers if you don't believe us. Few will ever need to use "M" mode. Still, this thing absolutely honks with all the limiters turned off. Best run with minimal brake torque -- all while ignoring launch control "flag" indicator. Braking Comments: First run was the shortest (107 feet!). Consistent pedal, but distances got longer with every stop (up to 112 feet). Handling Comments: Skid pad: Truly an impressive-handling SUV. Corners dead flat, offers incredible feedback and has enough power to influence chassis. But why can't I disable stability control? Slalom: Stability control never is truly off, which is why "on" number is faster than "off" number -- get aggressive with it off and it will punish you. Straightline That is what you call searing performance....! M
Damn, those number will humble a lot of sports cars and I am not just talking acceleration numbers, even the slalom, skidpad and braking equals or betters a lot of sports cars.
