Sorry, thought we had a Thread on this, but couldn't find anything? Can't hurt for another (update) just in case....

While at an M-B Dealer yesterday. I really got to admiring the CL, as I feel it's been so under-the-radar for whatever reasons to me, I never gave it a full chance. I usually just flocked to other M-B's which I liked just as much, maybe more, maybe less, but could have a more reasonable entry point into. Since then, I've really come to appreciate the car, the elegant understated effect it has which ironically is what allowed it to go long enough with me not realizing just how "Mercedes Coupe" it is, in that purist sense of what a Mercedes Coupe should be.

I got to thinking, which I liked more, VS a 6 Coupe, I think I like the CL more. Which would I buy? Was the next question. If it wasn't for the CL getting replaced in less than a year, I'd say the CL as well. Just another level to me. The 6er puts up a good fight stylistically, but takes a slight bit more sport in the place of grandeur, and I need to see how it ages before choosing it over the CL, personally.

No contest. CL must be one of the worst MB designs in a long time. In basic trim its pretty much an ugly and dull car. However in black color and AMG trim it transforms the car to something wonderful. But overall, the new 6-series is much nicer looking car and it doesn't even need an optional package to look good, that tells you a lot about a cardesign.

The CL looks bland, dull, and passive in standard trim indeed, but it does get transformed with the AMG Package. The 6er I don't think looks as "off" without the M-Pack as the CL does without the AMG Pack, but I think it looks quite basic/boring and a little lacking without the M Sport Package a bit itself, personally.

To be honest, I really like both. A week ago I would have said 6er probably, today the CL has captured me to claim this battle.

1st pic of 6 series that K-A posted says everything; no contest at all! 6er by a mile!

Mor me, the CL is one of the most beautiful cars in the world. That model exactly.

That's right however I feel the comparison between the two is a bit like apple and oranges. The CL is the staple car for what a large luxury GT should be. Not even the Bentley CGT, DB9 and Maserati Granturimo come close in grace and class. But credit where credit is due, the new 6-Series is slick and a good athletic alternative to the arguably more luxury orientated CL.

^Give me a Bentley CGT or DB9 over the CL any day of the week in terms of grace and class but that's just my opinion.

Exterior design 6 series, but i prefer the interior of the CL!

    Yip! Goes without saying.;)(y)

Sorry K-A mate but we are worlds apart here IMO. The CL is the Benz I admire most of all. It's M-B's crown jewel and I have HUGE respect for the car. My late dad had a 560SEC...man! CL = RR Phantom Drophead Coupe in my books.

The 6er + GC are cars in a different league here.

Thus, call me a sissy! But a refrain from voting here;)

For me it's the CL, even more the pre-facelift.
What I don't like about the 6 series is that it is in fact a F10 5-series. Hate the line form the trunk seen from aside. Destroys the Side line of the car.

The CL murders the 6 series! The 6 series doesn't even deserve to sit next to a CL in a poll. When they build an 8 series, then we can talk.

I agree about the facelift vs pre-facelift. IMO the pre-facelift CL is much nicer. The more elegant face is more unique to it instead of the "wide mouth" that's pretty much a carbon copy of every other Benz that we have on the facelift, and the front fender bulges are just so necessary on this design. They muted a lot of the impact when they smoothed over it with the new fenders.

I prefer the M-Sport front bodykit of the 6er but hate the rear one. I'd go for the standard bodykit. Overall design? 6 er hands down IMO. And the interior design of the 6er GC ( identical interior to 6er ) recently won it an award in the interior design category of "The Automotive Brand Contest"

I'm not saying that the CL is prettier than the DB9 but there's just something unique about it, like the long body, pillar less windows and immense cabin for a two door car. It's very grand.

The CL is amazing in the photo. Barely even notice the 6 series.

LOL, I think that picture makes the CL look brash and in-your-face, and makes the 6 look discreet and elegant. I really think the 6er has one of BMW's best ever headlight/kidney grille combos ever. and whatever that colour is I think its looks magnificent on the 6er
