Agreed, remove price out of the equation and the E63 won this test fair and square with the S6 a close second and the M5 a disappointing third.

Can't understand why anyone would think the M550d would be in with a shout, so far it's chassis has been underwhelming and as DeDe said less impressive than the D5.

I still think that the S6 have no place in here. The RS6 is another story and if it wins against this two I won't be surprised at all

PS: I too see the S6 as the reasonable choice in here but with these cars it's not always about that.

I think people here take this review a little bit too serious it aint going to change anybody opinion which one they would buy.

I think anybody who chooses to buy a car based on ANY review are a complete moron.

It's a shame that C&D don't dyno test when they do reviews, it would have been interesting to read what each car was actually putting out instead of claimed.

If you use a basic horsepower calculator that takes curb weight and trap speed as inputs, you can divine that the M5 and S6 are separated by about 100hp. So if you believe the M5 makes 560hp, 460hp for the S6 isn't a bad guess.

I think that sounds about right, probably torque is a lot closer to. Though this E63 was also producing more than claimed to based on its figures in relation to the M5.

S6 is highly underrated. It makes the M5 and E AMG overpriced. S6 is the best bang for your buck.

In red the S6 is the stunner in this lineup.

Definetively, we do think very similary my friend. C&D's VAG bias is so obvious is sicking. I can remember a last gen A6 winning a comparo over newer gens E and 5er.
And when you check their website, is Audi & Volkswagen featured all over, even on cars that aren't selling in the USA. I mean, com'on, there's more spaced dedicated to VW than to many mainstream brands that outsell them in the USA.

Still, great respect for what Audi has achieved with the S6 at the price point. The problem is I just can't withstand all these bias in some magazines like C&D or Autoexpress.

You guys really need to let go of that nonsense about a magazine being paid off to put certain cars on top. It really looks and sounds pathetic. Now can any prove anything is going on under the table or behind the scenes? Really? Its really lame.

C&D is just fickle, they have picked any and every brand at time through the years.

Every dog has their day, maybe, just maybe this Audi's day now.

I dunno. I mean look at those photo's. The Audi is front and center in all of them, and in one, is in its own lane while the BMW and Merc are placed like second hand citizens behind it, or in their own rows.

I mean, look at those pics, the Audi is even more glossed up, the Merc and BMW shaded behind it. In one pic, the Merc and BMW and even blurred up!

I just dunno if it's Audi earning it, or if these "Journalists" are trying to show off their "we're thinking in the new" mentality by pumping Audi so hard. The S6 certainly speaks for itself, no disregarding that, however, products VS products, taking out how impressive Audi's "Black Magic Formula" they seemed to adopt from Porsche by way of making EFFICIENT HORSEPOWER, i.e less of their horses being equal to more horses from others (healthier horses? lol), and price.... the E63 and M5 seem to still be superior products. Also, I'm sorry but the A6's styling, even in that candy red, isn't as strong as the other two's, namely the E's, IMO, and that's taking into account the photo-trickery to give it the "star treatment".

K/A that is nonsense, in every comparison photo C&D has every done, one car is out front. When they do their 10 Best shots there is one car in the front. The Audi won which is why it is in front. Makes sense to me. Motor Trend blurs photos all the time to put whatever car won or the focus, in front. Don't buy into something so silly K/A.

Now when BMW was winning everything with the 3-Series was it not deserved or was BMW paying off C&D also? That is to the BMW folks who swear Audi is paying off a magazine.

Maybe cause the S6 is the big surprise. The newest of them. Always when a new model is tested against its competitors, you see it on the frontpage, with them behind it. So, I dont think at any point what you just pointed out, is a reason for being biased.
