Here are the candidates for the Car of the Year award for 2010: BMW Z4 Chevrolet Cruze Citroën C3 Picasso Ford Ka Honda Insight Hyundai i20 Hyundai ix55 Kia Sorento Kia Soul Land Rover Discovery IV Lexus RX450h Mazda 3 Mercedes E-klass Mitsubishi Colt Nissan 370Z Nissan Cube Opel/Vauxhall Astra Peugeot 3008 Porsche Panamera Renault Scénic Seat Exeo Subaru Lecagy Suzuki Alto/Nissan Pixo Toyota Avensis Toyota IQ Toyota Prius Toyota Urban Cruiser Toyota Verso Volkswagen Polo So, any opinion on what car should/will take it? :t-drive:
Out of that list definitely Panemera IMO. It might not be the most graceful looking car, but it actually moves the game and brings something new to the table. Z4 looks good, but going by the the reviews really don't offer much else. E is just another boring MB sedan.
Just as a clarification, this is the award given by Car of the Year which is based in Europe. Votes are given to motor journalists from different countries based on the size of the car industry in each country.
There's no way the Panamera could win this, cost is an important factor in ECOTY and the Panamera is way too expensive to be a serious contender. I wouldn't rate the Z4's or 370Z's chances too high either... My money's on the C3 Picasso, although I don't think I've ever gotten this right, besides it's going to be the iQ anyway... :eusa_thin
BMW Z4 or Porsche Panamera!! Probably it will be the new W212 or could also imagine that it is going to be the VW Polo!
You guys are all mental. Of course it's going to be the new diabolically handsome Subaru Legacy. Pfff...muhahahaha. NOT! I believe it will most likely be the new VW Polo. Too strong a combination of award-winning/nominated engine offerings coupled with exceptional build quality for its segment. Toyota's IQ may be in with a shout because of its fresh approach to city transport and the new E-Class will be a very strong contender because of its inherent appeal as a past and present master of human transportation.
Maybe some guidance could be had from past years winners? 1966 Renault 16 1967 Fiat 124 1968 NSU Ro80 1969 Peugeot 504 1970 Fiat 128 1971 Citroën GS 1972 Fiat 127 1973 Audi 80 1974 Mercedes 450 S 1975 Citroën CX 1976 Simca 1307-1508 1977 Rover 3500 1978 Porsche 928 1979 Simca-Chrysler Horizon 1980 Lancia Delta 1981 Ford Escort 1982 Renault 9 1983 Audi 100 1984 Fiat Uno 1985 Opel Kadett 1986 Ford Scorpio 1987 Opel Omega 1988 Peugeot 405 1989 Fiat Tipo 1990 Citroën XM 1991 Renault Clio 1992 VW Golf 1993 Nissan Micra 1994 Ford Mondeo 1995 Fiat Punto 1996 Fiat Bravo/Brava 1997 Renault Scénic 1998 Alfa Romeo 156 1999 Ford Focus 2000 Toyota Yaris 2001 Alfa Romeo 147 2002 Peugeot 307 2003 Renault Mégane 2004 Fiat Panda 2005 Toyota Prius II 2006 Renault Clio 2007 Ford S-Max 2008 Fiat 500 2009 Opel Insignia
yeah it will be a small car.. we are just dreaming PS Its amazing to see that audi and MB only won ONCE in all those years..and Bmw none...
I'm predicting that the award goes either to the E-Class or the Z4. Why? E-Class: One of the most (if not the most) technologically advanced cars ever. From what I've heard, it drives amazingly well, much better than the predecessor. Z4- IMO the most stunning looking new BMW. First class interior as well.
