Less than a month after GM extended its contract to sell Hummer brand to China's Tengzhong automaker, GM has announced that it will not complete the deal. According to a statement released to the media Wednesday afternoon, GM will permanently wind down the off-road division as a result.

Too bad, the H7 was supposed to be very good

    Though they already sold Hummer?

Ugh...Why so much hate for Hummer? Personally I would have rather seen Saab go down (Except for the job loss that would have followed).

And why so much hate for Saab? Saab has never done any harm to anyone. They always made cars that were innovative, safe and sensible; They deserved to be saved.

The Hummer was an antithesis to my view of what makes a car good.

Saab really has nothing special to offer (IMO). I've driven a Saab before and it was a nice ride. On the other hand, as long as BMW, Volvo and Buick are around there is no need for Saab. Nothing about them stands out except for their odd ball looks (No offense to anyone that owns one, just my personal opinion).

Neither has hummer. If anything it has been proven to be very useful for State emergencies and military uses. Just this Month we needed Hummers to get people around to the hospitals in the Blizzard that we had. The National Guard saved plenty of lives thanks to the use of Hummer trucks.

    And so does Hummer!

Fell through, that is why there is news about them closing it down.

It's about time. The H2 is completely irrelevant in today's era environmentally concious consumers. Other cars such as the Pajero, Range Rover and Landcruier are more nimble off roaders. It's only tow capacity were the H2 might be surprior but except for that, there are few pragmatic reasons why anyone would want to drive around in that clumsy elephant for a car.

Like I previously suggested, Hummer needed to innovate the brand by transponding the rugged body to smaller car, similar to how Mini are lending their quirkiness to larger cars.

Sure the H3 was a step in the right direction but a weak one.

Saab as a whole offered way more to the automotive world than Hummer ever did. Saabs are (were) safe, fun to drive cars with turbo engines and lots of torque steer in certain models, if you liked that sort of things. Some of the best seats in the industry and the 900/9-3 convertible has always been a stylish entry in the segment. Saab actually was an engineering-based/focused company at one time, before GM ruined them.

Apart from the original Hummer, the H1, there is nothing worth saving Hummer for. The H1 bit the dust back in 2006 so the H2 and H3 are just plain dead weight and should be gone. That said if I were a rich car guy I'd have one of the last H2 SUTs sitting around at some Hummer dealers.

Where GM really goofed was not keeping Pontiac and turning it in to a true RWD-only performance division.

Expect every insecur freshmen university student to drive a H2 in 3-5 years time when the resale vaule of the car is is the sewer.

And also the service departments are various, still-open dealerships should be booming. All the Pontiacs, Hummers, Saturns that they'll be servicing in addition to the cars they still sell. **Nearly** every cloud has some sort of silver lining. A Chevy dealer can service any Saturn, Hummer or Pontiac. Nice business for those dealers certified and still open.

This has to be the biggest favor of the century to the humanity! A decision that should have been made way ago! Party time guys..!! :laugh2:

And today's news tell the brand is for sale again. What is it with GM and not being able to make the right decision?

If it's not bankruptcy it's their inability to make a decision on sale and restructuring, and in the mean time every known American Federal authority is spending all it's resources on hammering Toyota.....sick! :t-banghea

Wonder if it's sour grapes because Toyota took top spot as the worlds biggest car manufacturer....I f-ken bet it is! :D

Hummer won't be missed and come to think of it: GM wouldn't me missed either.
