Thanks guys for the photo posts. :)

Interesting to see the various little elements which have been between the Lifestyle and Exclusive Editions. From the different steering wheels, to the different seat headrests, and also the different gear-shifter. Also fascinating to see how different colours and fabrics can really give the cabin a very different feel. Change from classy and comfy, to funky n' fresh!

This might be a silly question, but I thought the X3 had i-Drive... I don't see an i-Drive knob/controller anywhere. I'm guessing it's at least an option... but if there's no controller, then how do you use the screen? Is it touchscreen? (As you can tell, I haven't paid much attention to the X3 eventhough it's been out for quite some time already).

Are there any noticeable exterior changes/enhancements?

    Hard to argue with that..;)

But slap on the M-Package kit (especially in black) and in my opinion you have one of the hottest looking 'compact' 4WD/SAV on the road. The profile and overall dimensions of the X3 are fantastic... it just needs a solid few hours in the powder-room to show off its real X-appeal.

Beemer, you use the round buttons on the console for the screen. There is no iDrive in this car, it's all E46 tech :)

Thanks for the info klier. :)

Easy to see the influence of BMW's Marketing department in the new badging emphasising X-Drive. Nice little touch.

It still remains really ugly car, nothing can help here! I really can't understand how other BMW cars are so better designed and look more sleek and smooth..This is just bad, it looks retarded, design of the headlights doesn't really fit the lines of the car. And it is starting to look very boxy somehow, especially comparing it to X6 for example.

BTW, what is really XDrive? I wasn't really too much into these things lately, sorry for my ignorance!

Audi Q5 is best looking in this class. GLK is also ugly.

I suppose the X5 models will be changing their names to XDrive something as well.

Alas, the new X3 look still does nothing to/for me. I'm sure it will still sell though.

I don't know if it really is in the same premium class, but to me the only remotely good looking car of this type is the Volvo XC60.

^^^ that's very much in the same premium class, but nobody here can say that that Volvo looks better than either Q5 or GLK :D That Volvo is absolutely horrible...look at those lines and that weird shape.....eeeeewwwh! Dr Dunkel is a fanboy of Swedish cars...admit it ;)

    Yep.

Same will happen with Z4: although it will wear sDrive badge instead. Y5 (PAS) will follow the same pattern: with sDrive, or xDrive.

Also the core models are losing "x" & "s" in the names.
xDrive / sDrive badge will be there instead.

    eg.

    530d
    xDrive

    335i
    xDrive

    Z4 sDrive35i

    X5 xDrive35d

^ So the new xDrive badge will then be below '335i' or '335d'?

    Or only on the side?
  18. EnI Contributing Member

There's "xDrive" badge on the side only.
    Usually below the side blinker.

    So ... eg.:

335i on the back, sDrive on the side
530d on the back, xDrive on the side

X5 on the back, xDrive30d on the side
Z4 on the back, SDrive35i on the side

    :t-cheers:

"hDrive" will indicate mild-hybrid, "ActiveHybrid" is a full-hybrid designation.
"eDrive" signals electric drive. I'm hearing next 1er will offer eDrive stuff - yet no info whether this will be production or test-promotion vehicles only.

    Haha, well, heres my defence:

    1. The Q5 is a scale down version of one of the ugliest cars on the road today; the Q7. Hence, many things can be said about is but pretty aint one of them.

    2. The GLK is, like I have said before, a transvestite version of the wonderful Geländewagen.

    3. The X3 looks plain retarded.

    4. The XC60 at least looks like a Volvo. :D

Im not really a fan of Swedish cars in gereral or Volvo in particular but they have got a few of them right. So, looking better than the german trio is not that hard. Come to think of it, the XC60 looks a bit like the Nissan Qashqai... :eusa_thin

The X3 doesn't look so bad ... in Black or Dark Blue. (y)

    Other colors are ... questionable ... :eusa_thin
