Definitely understood, but I didn't think this would be your cup of tea. This is similiar to the AM. But the AM is a stiletto, while the CS is a sledgehammer.
I agree. This looks like BMW realy wanted Aston Martin when it was for sale, and since they didn't get it they built their own Aston but put kidneys and BMW bage on it.
Hey choleric is that Mcphee on your avatar? i freakin love her.. she is HOT.. Hot like this car PS check out the wing mirrors..they are SUPER hot..one of the best ive seen..
May I also add, that the Audi concept has gone totally under the radar since the CS photographs were shown? You can't tell me that was not coincidence.
The problem is in the recent years many BMW design cues have been copied - eg. Hofmeister's kink C-pillar (think Infiniti, Rapide, even Lexus in some extent). This design is pure BMW: quad round headlights (rings of LEDs) horizontally stretched kidneys (seen that in 507, Z8, ...) L-shaped rearlights C-pillar with Hofmeister's kink "duck tail" boot lid integrated spoiler profile already seen on E31 8-series (enlarged, but proportions remain) driver oriented central console (BMW trademark till latest generation of cars) It's not BMW's fault some of their design trademarks are being copied. In the past BMW found some perfect sporty & dynamic design solutions (eg. sporty proportions with short front overhang & C-pillar with Hofmaister's kink). They make car look sporty & dynamic: so no a surprie other companies want their cars to look similar. Also L-shaped rearlights are a subject of copying. But, yes ... BMW started a design revolution few years ago, and many have followed, copied, mimic. Now BMW are presenting "evolutionary revolution" - some elements are revolutionary, some evolutionary. And due some evolutionary elements this CS study doesn't look 100% original - especially these elements are the ones copied / mimicked by others. I find this design study as "modernized retro": elements of current BMW cars (eg. iDrive, flame surfacing) meet elements from past models (eg. horizontally stretched kidneys, and driver-oriented interior) .
not a coincidence my dear warot! anyway the more i look at the front, the more i see Z8, not aston in it! this car is as pure BMW as they come!
Audi concept is not much better, so its for the better. Hopefully both will not see the light of day as production models, unless they are changed a LOT. and yes Artist that is Katherine McPhee
ohh i just realised the audi concept..of course it gets forgotten.. its not even of same caliber.. and i dont think its meant to be either..
Re: BMW unveil "Concept CS" tomorrow! Amen to that. Omg, what an ugly car. :t-crazy2: Thanx God for the beauty of MB CLS!
The first thing I thought when I saw the headlights was Z8. It's amazing how they combined elements from that amazing car.
My first impression??? HORRIBLE After seeing them the second time -- not so bad. It still isn't beautiful and still isn't acceptable but once you get the fact that this is a car for maybe 5 years from now + that it has elements which will be carried on in not just one particular car but the overall range of BMW shows that its a very subtle yet powerful hint towards the direction that BMW is going to take. Even the enlarged kidney grille won't look so bad when it meets its eventual fate with a more blended design. This IMO is more of a mish-mash of different cars rather than of just the Z9 or the F01 7.
I agree completely with Osna. While I'm not entirely comfortable with this concept, the potential is there.
after all the hype about an SL competitor being unveiled i was honestly expecting to see something like this:
wow that looks nutts.. would have been cool to something like that.. but then again.. im damn happy with this concept..
