Re: BMW unveil "Concept CS" tomorrow! Hardly, I think the CLS deserves some credit. Actually, I do. It does look good apart from the rest of the front...
Re: BMW unveil "Concept CS" tomorrow! Interesting.. You can see the focus of the design has changed to exude a feeling of power - what you'd expect for a car to be taking on Astons and other upper-end sports coupes. Maybe not perfectly executed yet.... The 6er has tried to do the same thing, but it's design is still too restrained. I'd love to see this creation in the flesh. If this is their new design style, it'll take some getting used to, but we'll learn to love it like we did the flames.
I agree with Will (about it looking like a Quattroporte from the front). The side profile reminds me of the Aston Martin Rapide, while the rear end quarter design me of the L-Finese design from Lexus (in particular the IS and LS) I'm not Insinuating BMW copied them, or that Lexus copied BMW - just stating as observation
Good catch! I think I like the rear and side although the rear lights are very un-BMWish and the side profile looks somehow overly stretched (too long).
Maybe he means next BMW's design revolution has arrived? :t-hands: Here are the side profiles of the CS and Rapide to compare:
What a horrible looking car... then again I was never a fan of most BMW un-production-like concepts. Even the Z9 concept horrified me, but it did give birth to the lovely 6-series, so I imagine this will be the same. There are some nice design cues, but overall it's a mess... LOL... another oxymoron… damn those marketing meatheads.
Wow...As much as I like this car, I'm confused. Like some of the others have pointed out, there is too much design influence of the Rapide, Lexus and even Dodge in this car. It is very sleek and muscular but it just bugs me how this car looks too much like Rapide.
Lo! Behold! for the Future Cometh! i love this thing don't take it as a model epr se take it as a mish mash of everything that WILL be BMW soon look at the concave convex progressions on the flanks and on the arches look at the mighty and imposing grill look at the sporty and sexy boot look at the purity of the profile that smacks the rapide in the face look at the headlights, the Z8 in the 21st century try not to see this as a whole, think of it as the sum of its parts, and appreciate every element and beside I-drive seems to be "different"
Yes, that exactly what I meant. :eusa_clap Next BMW design revolution, not design revolution regarding 4dr coupe (coupe -sedan). :t-cheers: Mind this is a design study: showcasing future BMW design. Just like Z9 GT, xCoupe or CS1 did in the past. Some solutions will be used in production cars, some won't. Note: Z9 GT Concept was designed AFTER E65 7er - it was based on E65 7er design, and it was a model for a future 6er. Just like Concept CS is based on F01 7er design, and will probably be a model for upcoming 8er.
You have to go back to "Forwards not Backwards" for my teaser preview I posted earlier but look at some of the elelemnts of the design - The rear is very similar to the upcoming X6, The surface and shoulder lines begin the next generation of BMW design starting with the F01. The Striking agressive face with wide twin-kidney grille showcases what the 7er will appear like as does the interior. A similar face will appear on the X6 and the RFK but will fit in more with those segments. It was no secret that BMW were interested in Aston Martin , Several BMW executives fell in love with the Rapide Concept hence the back door negotiations to secure ownership but at the last post hindered by Ford and their shareholders . BMW have now, effectively laid the ground or thrown down the gauntlet to it's premium competitors knowing too well that Mercedes and Audi are currently handicapped by Chrysler and Porsche. Industry talk proving too well that Porsche would not let Audi build a car in the same segment as the Panamera As Audi's A7 is pencilled in to be a competitor positioned right at the CLS. And not at the segment BMW are aiming the production model of this Concept at. Once the Rolls-Royce Seraph arrives everything connects as the gap is closed and the BMW brands begin to form a very exciting and exhilarating premium line up from MINI - BMW - Rolls-Royce.
I have to say it definitely got the WOW! feeling from me. Love it, love it, love it. It is indeed bold in its presence.
and yes what about the transmission, no clutch, yet i have a feeling this is....dare i say it....ZSG?
If this is true Scott, then damn, BMW have not just 1-upped the competition but 2-upped it (if there is such a thing). I'm getting all excited!
Front reminds me of a Dogde but the side and rear are nice (for BMW standards at least). I like it better than the Rapide.
