You know what's the worst part of that lazy rendering... each kidney grille has 12 slats... 12 slats!!

    It's supposed to be 10!

Is that also Mr " I'm head of BMW M Division, yet I've never owned an M car, in fact, I drive a....Mini" ??

Hey guys, even though I've been keenly following the M5, I may have missed a tid-bit or two. Has a CFRP roof been confirmed or spotted, or going to be offered as an option?

I wouldn't think it would fit in with the Executive image of the M5 (compared to the M3), but the M5 could do with even that slight weight saving and lowering of the CoG.

;)Nothing wrong with driving a MINI...
Given reaction to the new MINI Concept we might be welcoming the eighth MINI very soon.

    As a day-day car he has the BMW X6M , but he is driving M5 , M6 and 1 M Coupe also.

Unfortunately no one within BMW can get the 1M Coupe as yet , well apart from the top management.

I know, it's strange! But on the other hand, driving a MINI will make it painfully obvious to him how big and heavy M cars have become... should he ever want to get into one of those luxury comfort cruisers :D

When is the 1M coupe testdrive scheduled for chinese media?

One think is that the 5 Series is maybe one of the best looking BMW's ever. So the M5...
Also I wounnder how radical the M5 "CSL" is going to be if it really comes. I mean it is not a track car. Only, if I took an M5, the only options I'd take are the multimedia options and the seat options. All the rest, HUD... I don't need. Would like CF roof and interior trim.

Only 20 units of 1M were offered internally at BMW AG.

M5 CSL-what CSL? I doubt if BMW has any inclination of making a CSL because if they do I think it will first be with the M3.

I have a strong feeling they have no appetite for a CSL because they are focused on X(insert any number)M instead, which is believed to give the brand a sporty image.
On a more serious note I think it will make more sense from an M1 & M3 perspective due to the size factor, IMHO of course.

I don't mind the HUD, I quite like it and will certainly get it again in the future.

Ok, if Mr. K delivering cheesy lines is going to be the norm for every new M, you guys need to at least hire someone to come up with better lines. :D

You have to take into the account the language and cultural differences.
I doubt if Mr K is making an attempt at one liners, it does seem to me he is relaying a philosophy.

A guy in a Ford F-150 Raptor taking pictures of a M5? Interesting.
  14. Kowalski Well-Known Member

According to the guy who took the photos above, sounds like the new M5 has a DCT gearbox.

Hey, didn't Scott say we'd get more info 'bout the M5 on Friday? Where is that info?

//Oh right, it was the video and some competition, how interesting..
  16. Levi68 Well-Known Member

SCOTT already said the M5 gets DCT. He just doen't want to confirme it, because many still believe it will have AUTO.

Why wouldn't he want to put everyone right as to gearbox choice? :t-crazy2:
