Bentley announces Mulsanne Vision Concept, a new flagship drop-top - http://www.autoblog.com/2012/08/19/...ne-vision-concept-a-new-flagship-convertible/
So finally a true Azure followup? I hope I'm not seeing Volkswagen FWD proportions with that insane price tag again. Looks very promising. I'd like to see Bentley make an all-new stately Luxury 2-Door again, though I'd like to see it with a hardtop.
Finally some good news for Paris. It's been a while since we've seen a perfectly elegant like the Bentley Azure or Brookland. All I can say is good luck improving on this:
^^^ That car is ancient, and improving on those ugly proportions will not at all be difficult. That design drawing of the Mulsanne cabrio already looks 10 times better. Finally some competition for the Phantom Drophead Coupe. And the to be released Ghost cabriolet version (Corniche?)
I see a sun roof built into the folding roof, flared wheel arches and beauty. Any good guesses about what Bentley might name it? Crewe perhaps?
It looks much nicer already than the tacky bloated whale of a Drophead I think. Such a hideous vehicle that is.
True, but the RR Phantom and Drophead are probably one of a few vehicles today that could be slightly hideous but still retains its ornate and grandiose appearance. If there is anything I wish from RR or Bentley. It would be less weight. These 2.70-tonne gargantuans can do with 300kg less. The new Range Rover has done it and they should follow suit.
That's why I was hoping the car would sport a slim profile like the current Brooklands and Azure. I love the Drophead Coupe but also admire the Azure for its elegance. I wouldn't say either is the better looker, they are just different. Hopefully all luxury cars won't be bloated in the future.
I hope not as well. Rolls Royce is going so fat/bloat on their sheetmetal (no coincidence I think as BMW cars are also very bloaty looking sometimes, and RR's were always pretty lean and cut pre-BMW), that Bentley would do right to keep making their cars appear leaner. I'm not a fan of Bentley's really, but their newest line is starting to look very promising. The Mulsanne is what the fail of a 4-Door Continental should have always been, the facelift GT is getting closer to what I always wished of it, and aside from the SUV concept, their future renders and such look promising and high end.
Bentley Mulsanne convertible expected to be greenlit this year - http://www.autoblog.com/2012/09/08/bentley-mulsanne-convertible-expected-to-be-greenlit-this-year/
Same here. It is naughty of Bentley to tease us like that but then leave us hanging throughout the Paris Autoshow.
