Haha it's clear to see that the whole Mmode thing gets a bit too complicated. Normally in default, M mode will have all those things for you (meaning max attack mode). SO you don't need to turn ESP off or change gear selection... do one thing. Press the M button and you'll be ready to go.

    Damn...
Oh well, some more entusiathical magazine will the the M5 victory soon.

Recently Road and Track drove BMW 550i, time 0-60 mph in 5.0 seconds. Thats only 0.3 seconds slower than the M5 accoding to Automobile. :D

The times american magazines state will never be feasible for joe public to pull off.

No, but it still amazing to see that american carmags get so amazing acceleration times whatever car they test.

BTW Automobile is an american carmag.

    Totally agree. (y)

I've not driven the M5, so I can't comment on it. I have however driven the now "old" E55 AMG. A nice fast capable handler but biased towards cruising, not sport.

I have a feeling that the E63 AMG is a much more sportier car, especially since the facelifted E-Class has been praised for more direct steering and a slightly sportier suspension. If a regular E-Class now feels like this, an E63 AMG must feel even better. Oh God, please be nice to me and let me sample these three cars! :eusa_pray

Dont know if you guys didnt notice it but again this is a M vs AMG debate. I feel sorry for Audi, everyone seem to forget that the car exist :D

That seems to happen quite often, I wonder why!:t-hands: :D

They will remember it again when RS6 comes:cool:

Even though price says otherwise I consider the S6 to be more of a E550 sport and 550i sport competitor. That said, it's truely impressive that it was ranked second in the comparo by cars with RWD and 100 more hp.

The tester obviosly liked the automatic gearbox over SMG. Like I wrote earlier, the main reason why M5 came on last place had to do with the SMG. He found it too jerky and not as comfortable as the other two.

Carwimmer430, every 2007 face-lifted E-Class is equipped with Direct Control as standard (Faster steering rack, quicker reprogramed Airmatic suspensions with better brakes) . Pre-Safe is also standard across the board.

    A one trick pony maybe:D

The real AMG, M competitor is the RS versions. The S is just the affordable sporting versions of the normal models.

When it arrives that will be our answer for everything.:eusa_danc

maybe it will arrive so late that it will have like 6months of glory..before the all new E class amg is released or a new M5..

just like the RS4 is on the top for now..but the new M3 is around the corner..and i guess it will kill..

    PS
What im tryin to say is..Audi needs to speed up their RS modells.. i would even be willing to sacrifise S modells just to get RS earlier..

Merc1 is right Yannis, it is just you .....the pre facelifted model was just as ugly.

Remember that the top model W124 (E500) was engineered and built by Porsche -- Mercedes didn't have the expertise to build it.

No Roberto I disagree with the wording here. MB didn't have the capacity to build it, not the expertise to build it. It was also done as a goodwill gesture for some ill feelings between MB and Porsche or so I've read. Mercedes built the 400E so the 500E wouldn't have been a problem except for that it had a different body shell and some other under the skin differences. It was a costly project better left up to an outside builder.
