That is true, but that sorta makes my point about Active Steering. That about the M division wanting to give the "most control" doesn't hold up either when they don't yet offer a manual on a car like an M5 or M6. FYI, BMW offers (or used to) offer SMG on the Z4 3.0, 330i, 530i, 545i, and 645i and it was equally dislike there too and the M5's version is supposed to be better. M
Well it depend what market you are talking about. The M5, M6 gets the manual because of the request of american enthusiasts. In rich arab oil countries or Europe there's not enough demand for it.
I'm sure that the M5 would be superior with regards to lap times, slalom speeds or skidpad grip, compared to the E63 and S6. But that's not the point of this comparison. The E63 won because it was deemed to be the most well rounded.....in Automobile magazine's opinion. Things they like the most were: the engine, its looks, its sound, and its much simpler to use transmission. With the improvements (Direct Control) made to the facelifted E-class chassis, the AMG tuned E63 feels much better than the E55 did around corners and twisties.
