Me tooo. The S-class does not look aged and actually looks lithe and athletic next to that barge.

Unfortunately driving it doesn't feel so athletic. :D

The review says 7er is much more agile, and it feels like driving a much smaller car. Although offering same comfort level as S-class.

Doesn't look it, but ok. Yeah the BMW is formidable and oozes presence, too bad it isn't anywhere near good looking, IMO. Have to see it in person, but the front section looks disconnected from the rear.

So BMW went down that road again which is making the 7er longer to look bigger and have more presence, what's formidable about that?:D

    Length:

    S-class W221 SWB: 5,079mm
    7-series F01 SWB: 5,072mm

So, 7-series is actually shorter than S-class. ;)

Yet it looks much muscular & having quite greater presence. That's formidable.
How come? Same height, yet 3cm wider & featuring almost 4cm longer wheelbase - due shorter overhangs.

Almost perfect proportions make it formidable. A work of art.

You have to see the car IRL.

Btw, in that pic S-class looks much smaller due the angle and the fact both cars are not aligned.

    Short and fat. :D

    LOL @ work of art.

Not funny at all. The new upcoming BMW sedans & coupes / roadsters are featuring a special attention to proportions. It was a real hard work to make them happen - a great amount of engineering work. The new proportions are really state of art.

Regarding barge look: it's all due that funny photo. The S really looks (too) puny in that photo.

    Perhaps this one is better:

Oh god now we're going to hear about how BMW is paying special attention to proportions, yet the car looks ill-proportioned at best. It looks W140-like if anything.

Formadiable in this case looks bloated IMO, I'd rather have pretty or good looking.

What in the world is hard about engineering a car to look big and imposing in a time where more cars are trying to hide their mass with clever styling?

EnI you've got it backwards. Nothing hard about engineering or styling a big car to look big or imposing.

Why won't anyone translate the whole thing. This is the first comparison right?

The 7's nose really does look like the snout of a a certain filthy farm animal.

What's this now? MB fanboys having an orgy? :D:D:D:D

Of course S-class has some advantages over 7er ... Yet presence is definitely not one of them. Nor are better-to-look-at proportions. Of course MB is still the luxo-comfo King. With that specific MB cosy feeling. No doubt. But in many aspects the new 7er is much better car. And even the S facelift won't change that. Although the both cars play different cards: S is more cosy&warm comort-cruiser, 7er is more wilder techno-art driver's luxo car.

Some mod needs to clean up this mess..
Ive been part of heated discussions
But come on.. this is just plain name calling and crazy talk..
Imo it does not belong on GCF..
But then again im not a decision taker .. so ile be quiet from now on..

    PS
The 7er look very good compared to the S class on those shots..
    I must admit..
Ive said it a million times the new 7er is a good looking car and alot better than the previous..
And who doesent enjoy some healthy competition .. it only makes the Best be better
Look what the C class made BMW do with the 3er
A pretty dramatic facelift, wich now feels like almost a new car..and reason enough to change your pre FL 3er to the new one..
And maybe this 7er will bring the same result in MB and the S class
    Competition is good:D

Edit: I didn't look like it in that first pic. I stand corrected on that.

The 7er looks terrific imo -- I will be interested to see what Merc does to improve the S with its face lift -- right now, the 7er has the best interior in this class -- I like it more than the Audi A8.
