    Yes, they should.

It just occurred to me that the 2.0T was calibrated to compete with the E90 325i , the A4 2.0T is priced between the 320i (also 2.0 turbo engined) and 328i in the UK. Since the 328i is way better than the 211hp 2.0T I suspect that 2.0T Audi sales will fall off a cliff and Audi will be forced to realign their A4 engine range with the F30 engines.

The perfect engine for the A4 in between the 2.0T and the 3.0TFSI would actually be the 2.0TFSI from TT-S, that puts out 272hp.

^ I actually think the character of that engine wouldn't suit a 'normal' A4, though re-tuned might work.

it doesnt compete straight with it, look at the price difference in most markets

ok i checked that in uk its nearly same and in usa its not that much different
still, you need to add m pack and some other options to compete with s4, since its only just a simple 3 series with a big engine and s4 has much more goodies to make it fast

The BMW 328i is only minimally quicker (same 0-60 and only 0.2 sec and 3 mph in the 1/4)
They are pretty much even when it comes to straight line acceleration:

Actually S4 competes with the upcoming M335. 335i is pretty much a 328i but with a different engine.

but 1.3 seconds to 100mph and the gap is opening up the faster you go and from rolling start its 0.7 seconds. A4 keeping up to 60mph with 328i is thanks to better traction (AWD). In Europe A4 2.0 is available with FWD which should harm the acceleration.

    This is from Autobild:

    Audi/BMW
    0-50 km / h 2,9 /s 2,2 s
    0-100 km / h 7,1 s/ 6,2 s
    0-130 km / h 11,3 s/ 9,9 s

The 335i,and the S4 have been pitted against each other countless times they are in fact rivals, and theM335 will more then likely not be offered where I live. Does the 335i sportline come with tighter suspension then the packeges offered?
  10. Just_me Premium Member

Of course they are pitted since M335i doesnt exist yet. M335i is the real opponent when it arrives and everybody knows it. It got more power and different suspension and different brakes.

Another option for 3-series are the performance packages.

Everybody seem to forget the differences between S4 and 2.0 TFSI is a lot different compare to 328i vs 335i. S4 is in a different league compare to 335i.

I disagree,if a U.S. customer is cross shopping and wanted to look at the sportiest most powerful cars in this segment it would be between 335 and the S4,nothing more. I want to know if the sportline package offers a beefed up suspension over the other lines.

Im sorry to point this out again, but the Beemer interiors are so horrible...boring...dark... cheap looking.
Exceotion is the new M6 that really is amazing in the interior. But the pic that you posted above? Omg..

You can disagree as much you want, everyone have an opinion but you just wait for the upcoming battle between S4 and M335i. Its going to be intresting. There is a reason why BMW are building a stronger version of 335i, to compete with S4.
Adaptive suspension is available for all version and soon there is a M-package coming. Also there is sportchassi available but its not included in the price when you choose Modern/luxury/Sportline. Sportchassi is only standard if you choose M-package.

    The S4 B5 competed against the E46 330. The S4 B6-B7 V8 competed agaist the 335.
And suddenly, when the S4 B8 is put against it's clear upponent 335, its not fair, and discussions about a car that doesnt exist yet, starts...

    Hmm...

I think the S4 competes with the 335i. When the M335i comes, the 335i will have no competition from Audi.
  16. Deckhook Well-Known Member

Regardless of what some people might think the S4 and 335i has been pitted against each other since the M3 upped its game and output to take on Audi's RS equivalent. Against the old B7 S4 it was not only quicker but the better car and not once did anyone say the 335i wasn't it's direct competition........why because it was winning, but since it's started to lose its all of a sudden not its competitor but a yet to be released M335i. LOL

Generally when each is specced the same the two are very closely matched on price, regardless of market and I'm willing to bet the M335 will be slightly dearer though in theory it should be the better car if the 1M is anything to go by.

It's not that the 335iSport isn't a great car, it's just that the S4 is a little bit better.

Exactly... if Audi is to come out with a performance line that has diesel engines then the comparison is justified. Till then the S4,and 335 will continue competing with one another.
  18. Just_me Premium Member

But this time its coming. First up is M135i. I havent said it isnt fair Im just showing some facts and whats happening inside BMW.
  19. Just_me Premium Member

I'm not denying that S4 is a better sportscar than 335i but fact is that M335i is coming and its clear some people fear the car when they make comments like you just did. You are grown man so you should know that 335i is pretty much a 328i with different engine which you cant say about S4 vs 2.0 TFSI, here, there are many more differences than just the engine. I bet if S4 had the same engine as RS5, the RS5 wouldnt be as special.
Also, lets not forget that there even been reviews saying that 328i is sportier car than 335i.

People seem to forget that I voted for Audi S4 in this poll.

Yes they will until M335i comes. BTW how many here are aware of 335is E92?
