    Hockenheimring short course (2,6 km):

    1. 1:16,46 min - Audi S4
    2. 1:17,80 min - BMW 335i Sport Automatic
    3. 1:18,68 min - Volkswagen CC 3.6 FSI
    4. 1:20,74 min - Mercedes-Benz C350 BlueEFFICIENCY

    Verdict:
First place for the facelifted S4. With the most powerful engine and the quickest gearbox it is the fastest on the straightline and at the track, too.
The BMW with its great agility and handling is second, at the limit it's trickier than the AWD Audi. Fantastic engine-gearbox combination.
Both Volkswagen (3rd) and Mercedes (4th) are good cars, they are fast on the straightline, but you can not call them sporty at all.

There you go. Big win for the S4 and in my opinion, it really deserves it. It's an amazing car, that really kind of has it all. It's such a great handling car, it's fast, its a looker, its got it all. Congrats!

P.S. - Id be happy with any of the cars in this poll actually. But I just love the S4. It is everything the RS5 isnt.

P.S. 2 - It is 1.7 seconds faster then the 335 to 200km/h. It's knocks it out totally! And faster on the track aswell. Wow.

You meant to 200km/h right? ;)

    My bad ;)

Just outa straight curiosity. What has the RS5 done on the same track?

i somehow doubt that 170kg heavier, awd having car with a understeer flavour can compete at handling with a 3 series and its new chassis

Correct me if i'm wrong - S4 have a different, more sporty suspension compared to a normal A4. Wouldn't it be fair to put it against M-packed BMW, AMG-packed Merc and R-line VW?

And still, the test drivers (in many tests) says it handles great, and is faster then the 335 on track. Times are changing. Some people gotta accept that ;)

What engine does the version below S4 use? and which A4 compete with 328i?

Also I hope you guys realize there is M335i coming out, which are like Audi S-versions - a hotter version of the standard car.

A though call between Audi & Bimmer. However, I went with the new face with kidney grills - A perfect all-rounder for all your needs! :t-cheers:

There is M135/M335i coming soon to compete with Audis S-versions. With 320 hp and a modified suspension.
  13. Tumbo Audi/MB/VW/Lambo fan

Wow. So the S4 is just 1.1 seconds behind the mighty RS5? Oh Audi.. why didnt u put that 3.0T in the RS5...
  14. Tumbo Audi/MB/VW/Lambo fan

That has got to be the 2.0 TFSI Quattro with 211hp. That is a big gap to the S4 if you ask me. There is a 245hp 3.0TDI though.
  15. Just_me Premium Member

Indeed, thats a big gap. I feel one engine is missing. Thats like a 122 hp difference. Have there been a test between 328i and 2.0 TFSI yet?
Something tells me the result is the opposite with 328i being the quicker car since 2.0 TFSI isn't as special as the S4 and more in line with 328i/335i.

it handles great for an awd im sure and its no surprise its faster on a track, which is kind of a power track, since its faster

    In the B7 it was:
    2.0T - 200hp
    3.2 - 250hp
    S4 - 344hp
    RS4 - 420 hp

That was more decent then todays:
    2.0T - 211hp
    S4 - 333hp
    RS4 - 450hp

I mean.. C'mon Audi. More engines please.

Oh there you go the 'understeer' had to be mentioned again when Audi outperforms the competition convincingly. Anyone unconvinced in the S4's abilities to handle may I suggest trying it because you will be very pleasantly surprised as to how good it really is.

Any dyno on the S4 engine? Too much difference. Unless the BMW has a awful gear ratio.
  20. Deckhook Well-Known Member

In some markets a de-tuned version of the 3.0TFSI with 280hp so the line up isn't that bad.
