Thanks ! No slalom this year ? Any rating table like last year ?
LOL at the boring article part of you title ! :D

Surprised just how well the big heavy Aventador did considering its meant to understeer, like it's nipping at the McLaren's heels. Also a noticeable improvement in times between pre and post facelift RS5.

    Nothing beyond 0-100 times?

Not 100% accurate meassurement though. Another day, another time makes a difference.

No slalom, no cornering speeds this year... There is a rating, the Aventador won the test, the Macca is 2nd, the GT-R is 3rd.

That 0-100 time for the RS5 must be the worst so far. How can they manage that, when it's got 4.3-4.5 times all over anywhere else.

We need a proper lap time analysis to understand how did the cars achieved their respective lap times.

Its an overrated meassurement so who really cares.

Indeed, the article itself is not very interesting. It confirms two things:
    - the McLaren looses mainly on the soul aspect.
    - the Aventador is an impressive beast, very potent on track. I am curious to see how the Ferrari F12 will compete.

    Just for comparision:
    Honda CBR 1000 RR: 1.31.3
i'm beginning to think that this story of Mclaren losing in soul aspect is a little bit overrated: Everyone seems to make copy and paste. When Mcguinnes, Torist Trophy champion, had the opportunity to test Mclaren in that track he was really impressed by MP 4. He said:"Ferrari (458) is great, but the other (MP 4) it's really something special, i'd never tested a car so sticked to ground, i think is very hard for a stock bike run as fast as this car. Probably my race bike could lap faster, but only with a very small edge.

Could you please link to the Mcguiness driving report ?
As far as the soul story, I heard it also on French TV and, for instance, on Direct Auto (Direct 8 TV channel), there was some (soft) argument between two journalists about that, one asking the other if a car had to have defects to be good. Looks like at this price level, journalists want some show-off in addition to the rest, maybe also some customers (read some comments on a Lambo forum). The McLaren doesn't offer that. However, from what I read, I would not pick an Aventador over the MP4 : harsh transmission, worse suspensions, very big car... all those drawbacks only for slightly more performances at a level where almost nothing else can compete - it's not worth it ! Guess I must be the perfect customer for McLaren - a pity I don't have the money !

I have the article in Top Gear magazine. In Italy we can buy the translate version og top gear magazine, so it's in italian language. But if i'm not wrong there's something on internet, i suppose the article came from here. I'm not really able to understand what he's saying

I wouldn't say that the McLaren lacks soul, but it is of a different type to what the 458 offers. Some will prefer it over the Ferrari, some won't. Based on so many sources saying similar things ("copy and paste"), I think it's safe to say that motoring journalists tend to favor the character that the 458 embodies.
McGuinnes's adulation for the MP4 seems to be his amazement of the technical abilities of the MP4, not necessarily in its abilities to raise those emotions that we associate with as "soul" from a car.

Could someone explain the numbers ratings in this test? Like "2" vs "2-" or "2+".

Its amazing how similar the times are compared to last year. Was a robot driving?!
